Throttlemeister and Symtec Grip Heaters

i searched the site but didn't find what I was looking for...

I have Throttlemeister bar ends installed on my 6th Gen and now want to add Symtec grip heaters. To hold the throttle in place the Throttlemeister lock uses a small teflon ring that slides over the stock plastic throttle tube, and I'm curious if this small ring interferes with the Symtec heater element. Has anyone here successfully installed the Symtec heater kit with Throttlemeister bar ends?

PS: I called Throttlemeister and they were unsure and said it would depend on the length of the element.

I have done it on my Honda ST1300 but it has longer grips than the my VFR.
I saw a post the other day of someone who put the Symtec over the grip and shrink tubed it then foam grip puppy over that. I can't think of a bad thing about that idea.

I have those two items on my bike and they work perfectly together. It's a little hard getting the TM plastic ring over the heating element but after many thousand miles I've had no problems.

Cool...thanks for the pics. Where did you install the switch?

The original location was here on the left side of the cowl.

After some cosmetic make-overs a few years later I hid it on the inner panel below the left grip.

If you are mostly a fair weather rider you might consider mounting the round rocker switch Symtec supplies with their kits on to the top of the steering stem if you remove the plastic cover on it. Just make sure you protect the wires from possible damage as parts of the stem at the bottom can be sharp and jagged. You will also have to make sure the wiring and switch is protected from water coming from below cover over the switch too if you do park your bike in the rain.
I installed a different 3 way switch for my Symtec heaters on the right hand switch pod for a more OEM look:

I have Dual-Stars (same as Symtec) and Throttlemeisters on my 2000. No problem at all.
