Greetings! new to the forum

hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself!

I am Rimmy, I recently traded my gen 6 in for a Gen 7 DCT. love it. no regrets. I can't wait to put some real miles behind her!

I have been a long time lurker and user of other forums. I just wanted a place to see things about my bike and discuss it.

I only upgraded because of an injury to my left ankle, I really loved my 800.

Just turned 10,300 on my DCT. I was talking to couple of riders today while gassing up and one goes"is that that automatic one". Guy was blown away on how it works. Anyway you will love the bike.

Anyone who can make a vfr1200 look like a Dwarf, has to be a Big Guy~ :biggrin:


yea i'm no spring chicken. 6'6" and 280 lbs. the weight of the bike feels perfect to me. I can swing it around quite well. :)

most people don't even know my bike is an automatic most of the time.

I have found that out in the twisty hills here its much more comfortable to keep the bike in manual. and she's a thirsty beast when you push her, but I love it!

I have found that Drive is much better for moving around town that I initially thought. Sport mode is rather interesting. I like it on the highway to move around traffic.

Honda did their home work on this one. HUGE fan of this bike. :)

and Hi Bill! you'll see me around. just not on SBR anymore. too much BS for me. now that you know how to find me, let me know and we'll meet up for a ride! same goes for anyone out this way!

havent had any problems or noticed any quirks yet, except that when its cold you have to let it warmup before you try and give it gas. it will shudder a bit if you dont. but it doesnt take long.

Gilroy. Yes, home of Garlic Galore. But also of Kirigin wines. One of the best, most reasonably prices wines I've ever found. Also not far from Laguna Seca. What more does anybody need?

Kirigin is ok, but I prefer a local winery here on Hecker Pass... Hecker pass wineries LOL. I love their Uva Nera wine. Guess you will need to come down and try it out. darn! :D

if anyone is down this way let me know. I am heading south east this july 4th for a good 1200 mile romp with some friends.

I am in the process of trying to move to Cupertino. all good. Gilroy is not home, just where we are now. its a nice enough place though. :)

Oh well, welcome aboard! I think the DCT actaully learns from how you shift it in manual mode. The one I rode felt like it had a lil cornercarver in the ecm, shifting just when I would have.

if it takes its shifting queues from me, then its gonna be a race bike LOL. I am NOT nice to this motorcycle. I ride it like I rode my 800, the way it was intended to be used. the VFR line dawns from racing heritage, and I intend to use it accordingly.

my size makes it easy for me to flick around. its about where my BMW was, but much more capable,. and i'm good with that.

although now, I am getting the desire to have it painted white and have the rims powdercoated in white. that would look sexy and really give tribute to the Honda racing of the past.

I wish I was alttle taller 5'11-180lbs, wasn't comfortable riding GTR 1400 (Concours 14) a bit too tall to maneuver in city traffic. Replaced the seat with Sargent, but went back to the stock seat because lower seat changed the whole dimension of the bike.
VFR 1200 fits me well and can easily flat foot it, in all different road conditions.
The only thing I don't like about the DCT transmission is in u-turn situations, where you can get into a jerky situations because you can't pull in the clutch like on most bikes.
I have been in several 800 mile (no highways) rides within a 24 hour period, and have no complaints.
