Wet and sexy...nice.

Now get rid of those frame sliders over your radiators and put them in the holes in your fairings to clean it up and better protect your bike.   :fing02:

Not sure how to move them since the coolant overflow bottle is over the other bolt hole?

Thanks! The beetle bags are actually pending sale to raptor2a at the moment so I'll probably only have the Givi top rack.

Re sliders - looks like it has holes drilled for Radar's already maybe? If you're handy it's fairly easy to modify the bottle to get sliders on. Holesaw, short piece of PVC, and some RTV.

Corbin saddle and the backrest is Corbin as well, fits into a small  square recepticle in the seat base....I think it is a 9/16" square for the back rest...

Nice looking bike.  I think I saw that bike on craigslist awhile ago.  if it's the same one I saw you got a hell of a deal considering all the goodies on the bike.  If I wasn't deployed I would have raced you to it.  when I get home (this winter, hopefully before christmas) we'll have to meet up and do some riding.  I know some decent twisty back roads down by me.  Decent, not great   :happy:

Or you can pick up the bottle ready made from the R&G slider kit.  Either way it's better than having the frame sliders mounted over the radiators.  Any drop will most likely rupture said radiator leaving you stranded and your fairings are all ready pre-drilled for the ones that mount to the frame.

Still a sharp looking ride and you don't see many VFR's with the Beetle bags.   :fing02:

Got a link to this ready made bottle? The Beetle bags were just sold. I'm packing them up for shipping now. Here's a few more shots w/ the DSLR after removing the mounting hardware. I know, the fender is huge and now that I don't have the bags I don't need that massive thing anymore.

They are the US distributors of the R&G kits but you can buy the bottle alone as I had to do so when I broke the tab on one I had by accident.

awesome bike! youve got talent and patience. i gave up on the polishing after the frame and wheels. i cant believe you did the swing arm too. it looks great. only thing i can think of, if your done with the side cases, pick up a high mount exhaust to show your work better. quick question, looks like you got a light weight rear sprocket... any info on your sprocket kit?!

You can mod your own bottle to fit the r&g sliders, that's how I did mine. Google it for specifics.

If you never, ever ride in the rain or wet, go ahead and cut that fender.

To be honest I didn't do any of the polishing. On top of that it's not polished, it's chrome plated. If you look at the first pick of the right side of the bike on the frame (near where the knees would be) you can see the chrome flaking off. I'm not a fan of chrome/polished frames. I'd have much rather kept the stock look. As far as the sprocket kit I believe it's an RK matching set w/ the chain and front sprocket (which I have yet to clean up).

I saw the picture of the modified bottle from R&G, looks like all they did was cut a wedge into the corner of it. The fender will be coming off soon, just not sure what kind of eliminator solution I'm going to come up with.

Very nice! The high mount exhaust does improve the view of the rear wheel. Of course I may be biased since I have a high-mount Two Brother's Racing exhaust on my '98.

Those flashy wheels sure do catch the eyes too. I really like the polished chrome and black combination.. Almost makes me want to do something about the comparatively drab look of the stock satin black wheels mounted on mine. Lucky for me (I guess) at my age I'd rather spend what little free time I have these days riding my bikes in lieu of spending a lot of that time cleaning and polishing.

Although I do slightly prefer the more angular styling of 6th-generation viffers over my 5th-generation, even though the styling of our 800 was first introduced to the U.S. market about 13 years ago, our viffers still look sweet even after all these years!.

I'd venture to guess it is not the OE R/R.
Wires should not be looped like that. Must be a Honda, since it looks like the original connectors. Looks like there is a metal plate behind it. If so, the updated R/R came with a metal backing plate but didn't look like that R/R. It had holes for the mounting bolts, not slots. Could have had the updated R/R, and then another after that...?

Get a look at the yellow wires to be sure they are in good shape. Over the winter I took a look at mine and found that the yellow wires' insulation was brittle and cracking off, leaving exposed wire. I caught it before anything happened. No evidence of arcing, so maybe just moving the wires to look caused it to flake off?
The only reason I looked was because one of my other Hondas had a R/R issue, and I wanted to see if they were interchangeable. The only reason I suspected an issue with the other one was a lot of odd readings on my voltmeter. (Get a voltmeter)

I'm going to be powder coating the frame and other chrome items black/silver this winter. I'm not a fan of Chrome. I'll probably leave the wheels chrome though. I spend most of my time riding it. I haven't actually washed it in over 1000miles. I'd like a 6th gen with a 5th gen engine in it!

Actually I can see the yellow wires, and they look pretty good...

I've gone over it with a fine tooth comb and everything checks out to be good. Not sure who made the R/R though. I guess I could remove it and check for any kind of part number or stamping. Electrical system works wonderful on the bike though. I'm thinking about switching all the bulbs to LED to relieve some load from the regular bulbs. HID too since it draws less power.

No it won't. The sliders are attached to incredibly strong structure, which forms a birdcage below the fairings. Left and right hand side are actually connected, so imagine a dual-purpose style bullbar, but under the fairing. So if you drop it hard enough to bend the supporting structure that the slider is attached to, radiators will be the least of your worries...

That's what I was thinking when I took the fairings off for maintenance. That cage they're mounted to is very, very thick and the fact that they're connected together can only make it stronger.

fastrax; my muffler does make your bike look good!!   :cheerleader:   I am going to write up a "how to" on mounitng the Givi side case racks w/ JC Whittney cases so you will get to see your muffler soon.

Next time you have the fairings off, can you snap a few pics of the "birdcage" for the frame sliders? I have Radar's kit installed and I didn't think there was anotheer option.

BTW; beautiful looking bike, enjoy.

Nope, just hit it with a few grits of sandpaper on a orbital sander...then sprayed it with engine paint.

I've never been a fan of sliders that require drilling through the plastic, but it looks much worse when the holes are there with no sliders in them at all.

Hahaha, yeah the stickers were an eye sore. The center stand IS polished. I'm not really a fan it sticks out too much so its gonna get PCd black along with a few more bits. The crank case has a carbon fiber cover on it...not sure why. I've removed it and the case itself is in great shape...aesthetics :) I'm looking around for a set of sliders to use the holes...or another set of fairings.

I, like Filterfool, wanted to see what the cage looked like- so I went and bought a set!

It should be noted that all of the metal is 1/4' to 3/8' through-out the entire kit, with the exception of the cross brace. This system is very ridgid and strong.

Also, i had to ditch the left side rad. grill.

The kit replaces the factory engine bolts with longer Alan headed bolts and spacers. The bracketry sits where the coolant bottle used to reside and in the kit is included a longer bolt and spacer to reattact the coolant res. without contact to the fairing.

The cross brace utilizes two unused brackets on the bottom side of the frame (its darn near impossible to get a picture of) and connects the sliders in order of 'slider - frame - cross brace - frame - slider'.
