So you may have noticed things look different, well true. I just upgraded the forum to the latest version lots of changes - faster and some things are simplier, some are just different. So thats that.
The old mobile skin does not work yet but invisionboard provided a default mobile skin so we will work with that till the author can upgrade the mobile aqua skin we were using before. I have alot of work to do yet but working on it. If you have comments put them in this thread please - suggestions comments blah blah we have done this a number of times over the years and its always the same thing I get reamed for a month or so then everything calms down except me who is working quietly behind the scenes trying to fix everything.
I have a new banner I want to put up but have not gotten to it yet. Please dont freak out too harsh on me, this is inevevitable - these upgrades, they have to happen to keep up with the services I need from the software provider they dont support the old stuff anymore.
I tested this one for a month before I released it publically and I liked it better then the old one, its easier and faster.
I will continue to work on it in the comming months to make it better.

Looks great! I like the crisper, contrastier effect.
The looks I can get used to. Different, but nothing wrong with it, and does seem faster. Notifications are definitely faster and better.
All I really care about is that it's more stable and doesn't crash every time someone takes out the pedal bike.
I have installed a new classifieds system that makes classifieds easier for me to deal with, more centralized and automated. It will have the same rules and perhaps a pay per listing for guests, and new members (havent decided yet on this) free for forum contributers, volunteers to list. The old forum style classifieds are still there till they expire then I will take down those forums. 15 days

Not a "ream" just a question. The site seems to be starting for me on the "Portal" page, even when I click "vfrdiscussion.com." Is that a glitch or by design? (P.S. I also hate change, but will adapt :computer-noworky: )

yes portal is the homepage, working on the content for that.

view new posts button is now view new content , click it its all included in one button now and its very intuitive and more powerful, easy to filter how you like it and for all the applications too
works a charm on my Palm :-)

Once I've viewed a topic it disappears from the "new posts" section and I guess I have to remember which forum it was posted in to find it, am I doing it right or is there an easier way?
Also, I'm used to shortening links by titling them something else with the link button, this seems to be gone?

I do miss the featured photo on the front page.
I like it! It seems to work much better on my iPad than the old version did, either mobile or regular. I always preferred the desktop version because of the iPad's big screen. But the new one looks great as is.

Would it be difficult to move the left sidebar on the View New Content page to span the top of the screen horizontally?
That would allow more visible results across the screen under it, I think? Maybe I'm just still used to scanning to the left side of the page...

I removed the mobile version cause it was not working at all, not like they advertized anyway or anything like the previews I saw. It does is fact make a distinction for Ipad so I can leave that now as full desktop either way, they added a new agent just for the ipad.
I am and installing a fresh version on another folder and gonna test it there till I get it working like in the previews I saw then I will import it here later.

That no longer is availible, seems that took more server resources that was nessisary and may have contributed to the site crash/locking up so much on the previous version so it was taken out of this version. So they listed anyways as one of there differences in the change log, also no more photos and avitars just avitars now just one personal photo instead of 2 and I chose avitar over personal photo as the one we keep.

Thanks, HS. This upgrade sounds like its been a lot of work for you. I like what you've done with the home page and I'm getting used to configuring the new content area each time I visit. Different, but that's okay. Best of all--no crashes (... crosses fingers :fing02: )
One thing that bugs me........ hopefully it is me, doing something not right.....
Creating a post, using My Media to select pictures that I have uploaded here.
Post the topic, see that I made a typo erreur.....
Edit the post and here it comes I get the error message that the board doesnot allow the kind of image extension
I have to delete the images and garbage that came with it and re-use My Media....
If this is not me, I hope it can be fixed.....
Alternatively, I can use Photobucket. NP but they recently changed their terms/software so that one has to change setting to avoid everyone accessing all pictures...
