I picked up my vfr last weekend and since then ive been cleaning on it alot (it was a daily transportation and has lots of grime built up on it) and i have a few questions now
First- This hose. It is not connacted to anything on the front or back of the motor... What is it for?
I think you'll need to lift the front of the fuel tank to see the back...near the pump/filter area. that line looks like the one that comes from the vent -- on mine, it will pop off if the tank is lifted "too" high. i doubt there is a "missing" canister, chances of it being a CA bike in TX with a fully removed evap system are pretty low.
Get the "y2k" mirrors ('00 and '01)... they'll show up on ebay but not likely to be cheap. they are a single, black stalk that look like the 6th gen mirrors but i don't think they are exactly the same.
That goes to the evap can on the 00-01's and theres a electrical solenoid on that line between the tank and evap can. Im guessing yours is a 98-99 non cali or it was removed.
Fuel tank vent line. Look for a white plastic elbow at the right rear of the tank, underneath near the hinge. Connect the hose to that. The bottom end is correct, it dumps to ground.

Yes, as far as i can trace it back, it is a louisiana bike
I had my suspicions that my bike had spent most of its life outdoors and after pulling leaves and dirtdobber nest out of various places, those suspicions seemed to be confirmed. Most of the upper fairings are faded along with the yellowed windscreen.. seems as though I have a lot of work cut out for me :tour:
My bike has been covered outside for prolly 2 years. It needs to be cleaned really bad as mud splashed up all over it. It pains me to know she is just begging to be ridden. Oh well hopefully soon. Im gonna be giving her a full detail asap.

Since i last posted I trimed the mudflap on the rear & picked up a D&D pipe from MaxSwell (absoultely great to deal with) and most of these pictures are still with the factory pipe on it.
The paint was faded to pink in some areas so i ended up buffing the bike- It has turned out well, considering its almost a 14 year old bike stored outside upuntill now. Ive put over 1500 miles on it, just riding on weekends, and i have came to two realizations:
