Finally Got my 5th Gen

So I joined this board looking for info about VFRs. However, at the time I didn't have one, and now I do. Finally I have my own 5th Gen VFR. 1999 with just under 12k on the clock for $4K. She came with a Penske rear shock, RaceTech forks, aftermarket regulator (14 Watts I think), a Sargent Seat, Heli-bars, a Staintune High-Mount Exhaust Pipe, and Titanium Silver Powder Coated Wheels, and pretty much brand new Bridgestone BT021 tires. Sounds great runs great and nothing seems to be wrong with it. Very happy with it. Here are the only pictures I have at the moment (currently at school so I can't take more, relying on others to do that for me). So since this topic is worthless without pics, this is what I've got:

First image, the VFR in the front is mine, the one in the back is my Father's, bike in the middle is my mother's...were working on converting her to a VFR... :fing02:

Really excited to finally be a VFR owner, still seems surreal. Looking forward to going home at some point to give it a real good ride.

Thank you. As soon as I get home I'll be going for a ride probably with my father. He's taken it out a couple of times and only has good things to say so I'm very excited to ride it. Can't wait until next summer.

Grats on the purchase, great looking VFR. I like the line up, and the 650 Kawa is a great bike too, I had one myself but I crossed over to the V-side.

We're a family of speed. To get the most out of our bikes ya gotta have the fastest color. Of course my mother was the hardest to convert (she wanted her bike in blue). We're hoping one day that Team Red becomes Team VFR.

Very nicely built 5th gen. Mines creeping up on 80,000 miles with only a few rectifier(regulator) issues. Feels as fast or faster as the day I got her. Still has the stock clutch but I think that is next on the list of maintinance task.  I like the mods even have a few of those on mine. Where you located?

Thank you. I must say I got very luck with the mods since the guy I bought it from gave me all the stock pieces as well (and all for a reasonable price). Haven't had the chance to test those mods out yet but I'm hoping to at least once before the winter comes. The purchase was really a bike for next year since mine was totaled back in May. While I'm at school in Burlington Vermont I live in Central Massachusetts, so that's where the bike is right now...and I do miss her so...

Welcome fellow 5th genner! She's a purty girl she just needs to get out & stretch her legs a bit more. I'm still on the fence about the silver wheels, but I'm leaning that way. They're getting a little chipped with all the hard miles, but it's a small price to pay for all the smiles.

Thank you! I won't lie, when I first saw the silver wheels, I was torn. Wasn't sure if I really liked them or not, however they've definitely grown on me quite a bit. By the way, what did you do with your headlight to make it look so pronounced? Is that paint on the fairing or tape? Either way it looks really good.

Thanks! It's painted between the headlight, and the body line on the front cowl. I call it "eye liner". She's a little bit slutty now hehe. That combined with the bags & cut-down ZGDB screen makes her look a little lower, and wider despite being stock height in front, and lifted 3/4" in the rear.

Well I must say, I like the slutty look, very very sharp.

To be honest, I entirely lucked out, its really amazing what you can find on Craigslist now-a-days. I'll admit I'm a stickler for keeping bikes stock...but...this was too good of a deal to pass up. Keep you eye open, you might find one just like it and you can add it to the collection! :fing02:

Thank you, still feels very very surreal. Still haven't had the chance to really ride it yet, I'm hoping to go home soon in order to do that. I'll report on the seat when I get the opportunity to really ride it.

looks like we both got ours about the same time. Hows yours doin? any real rides on it yet?

Great find and gettign it with those mods and the original parts is a good score!

Congrats and don't for get to post up your ride pics when your fam is able to head out in the spring.

No rides yet, looking to do so around Thanksgiving. Will get pics for sure.
