I've not been able to find decent pictures of the mounting for the center stand on my 5th Gen. This is a new install, not one I took off myself. My bike didn't have a center stand on it when I bought it and Baileyrock was nice enough to sell me a spare he had. I'm a little unsure of the spring attachments and the semi-circular bracket mounting. If someone could post up a couple pics of theirs I'd really appreciate it!

You're gonna need to drop your exhaust system for starters.
I'm nearly at work for the day, so cannot help right now. If you're still in need by the end of the day, I'll post up.

Yeah, I figured that out pretty quick... :-)
I pulled the plastics so I could see what I was doing and that's when I discovered the extra issues with the headlight that I put in another thread.
Thanks!
It is a PITA. I removed a couple of 5th gen center stands for track days and put them back on because my chain maintenance bcame rather lax. let me see I can find some pix f the re-install without the blood and cursing.
the left side is pretty straight forward, but what i did for the right side is took a piece of threaded rod and cut a notch in the end for a screw driver (which you can kinda see on the inside). screwed it thought the mount (from the inside) with blue lock-tight, then when it got though far enough i started screwing a nut on the end w/ red lock-tight with a washer between the stand and the mount.... when you get too lazy.... you get creative
Edit: this way you have no need to drop the exhaust and the stand stays on and sry i beat you to the punch corner :tour:

:+1:
This...I have some additional pics of a similar install if needed. I used a couple nuts locked together on the inside instead of loctite.
I am really not seeing what you're saying about the threaded rod and such on the right side, but thanks for the pic of the left side! That will be helpful!
here are some more pics to give you a better idea, in the top right pic... it shows the grove that i put in the threaded rod to screw it thought mount, but i cut it too short and couldnt put a nut on the other side like what vfrcapn was saying

I think I've done the right side w/o removing the headers before, but I've slept since then.
I got my cstand off without completely removing the header but had to loosen all the nuts at the head and apply a liittle "flex" to the header to get the right bolt out. The trick above eliminates the problem.

So one still needs to still disconnect the header - may not take it out but still take the bolts out ?

I managed to leave the nuts on the exhaust studs but backed almost all the way off. This gave enough play in the header to flex it far enough to remove the cstand right bolt, but just barely.
