New to me 01 ( I love these bikes )

Took it out for a 50 mile ride today, I've a few things to sort out, shifter set too high, clutch engaging too far off the bar, gps not charging off bike, all pretty minor. May 15 was 5 months anniversary of totaling my beloved 2000 vfr. 25000 miles without a hitch and then bang, lights out while trying to avoid some deer on a twisty back road. My first helicopter ride and I wasn't even conscious for it. I  t only cost $27000 for a 42 mile ride. ($35 co-pay for me) After a stint in ICU and 8 days in the hospital I never once thought of giving up riding. After a month and a half, I began my search for a clean 5 th generation. I found a couple that were quite pricey, and began to entertain a different make / model. I ended up buying an 09 Triumph Sprint St in Phantom Black. ( like a vfr on steroids ) I know, I went to the dark side, but it is a great bike. (pun intended) Then, this one falls in my lap. The guy who won the e-bay auction backed out and Parsnips sold it to me for $2750. Now my wife doesn't talk to me very much ( another bonus ) and I have two great sport touring motorcycles.

Congrats.  How much tinkering do 5th gens need versus 6th gens?

After test riding a 2007, I really want a 2006-08 but I think that won't realistically happen for a year.  The 5th gens are more affordable, but I'm a lousy mechanic.

None. 5th gens have an easier valve check procedure too.

Does Kevin Perham still have his PC800?  I believe he was trying to sell it last year so you may want to check with him if you are looking to buy one.
