After 20 miles of dirt road riding got back on pavement and ran another 100 miles and stopped for a cup of coffee. Took the key out and she had a high-pitched electrical hum!!!? Clock worked on dash and when I put the key back in and turned ignite to on clock went off and no fire,no lights no nothing.
Hitched a ride back to RV, got a few tools ,batt charger. Batt showed 13.1 v ,checked all fuses,big connections all looked A-OK.
Anybody every heard an elec. hum on a inert machine?
Live in a RV park where you can not work on any machines, so off to shop she must go. Ignition switch, run switch, light switch ???
Shop can not look at it for a week will post again in a couple.
Bummer but the first time she has been off her oates.
Dunno but check your main 30a fuse by/on the solenoid. It's buried under the rear of the gas tank in front of the battery. If that goes it takes everything with it.

Hum is not the pump- after a few minutes off the hum stopped along with everything on the bike.
The strange thing ,to me, is the ONLY thing that works on the entire bike is the clock on the dash. When I turn the key to ON the clock goes out and nothing on the bike works.
The hum was a very high pitched electrical sound- not the pump- I have never heard anything like it. The owner of the store heard it as he walked to the bike-I had to put my ear almost on the bike to hear since my hearing iis shot. But,I heard it and have never heard anything like it coming from any kind of machine.
Ideas?
Did you check the battery to see if it was hot? I was on a ride one time with a fellow Vfr rider and the same thing happened. We were riding along when his electronics just started to shut down. He coasted to shoulder of the road and we started to check a few things. I notice this high pitched hum coming from his bike.Checked the battery and it was so hot you could not touch it. The hum was vapour pressure inside battery making the noise as it exited the vent. We left it alone for about 1/2 an hour and then carefully pried a cap off. trhe battery was practically dry. It eventually led to a new battery and r/r as it was overcharging the battery.

A good bud who is crackerjack tech. said the exact same thing. Said it was gases leaving the batt.- total sealed gel batt.
Shows 13.1v on digital charger- no heat from the R/R.
Has not been very good week for me and machines. Computer seems to be working.
