I just bought a 5th gen and after I rode it home 20 miles, I noticed that the frame (the flat shiny silver colored bit) got a bit hot. I'm guessing this is because the radiators are mounted sideways but I'm curious if it is actually normal.
Hot frame, is that normal?

how hot is "a bit hot"?
Can you hold your hand on it or is it too hot for that?
They will get warmer than you might think at first blush but you nailed it with the rads mounted on the side up front.
In North Georgia it is a great place to warm your hands on cooler mornings in the spring/fall before you install heated grips.

Not to worry, it's typical.
Thanks for the responses.
I could hold my hand against it for a few seconds without much discomfort but I can definitely feel the heat. Almost as hot as the silencer.

The frame runs right past the Two rear cylinders and heads. It's gonna get hot.
Don't ride with shorts on. :-)
