are they the same with all gens

Lots of after market, try amazon.com, can't remember exactly what they are listed under, but they are there around $20
Some people will snicker at this but if your eccentric is lubed and moves freely, a long screwdriver and a couple of taps with a mallet is all you need, if you don't have the spanner.
The spanner and handle are about $25 for both through powersportspro.com.
I used a brass drift when I loaned my spanner to another guy and needed to adjust my chain.

Triumph ones will work, which opens the market base up a bit.
The Ducati spanner will work as the Honda works on the Ducati.
I did it for a while with the Honda then bought the Ducati tool.
A chunk of 1/4" rod bent into a hook with a curve works nicely. Cheap and light.
