High Mount Exhaust

I'm looking for a high mount exhaust for my '98 VFR800. At one time several aftermarket companies had high mount options available, but other than Staintune, I'm not able to find any now. Any suggestions?

Pretty sure Micron has one, I have one of their high-mounts for my 4g.

All you need is a Staintune...buy used if the cost of a new is putting you off. No other sound quite like a 5th gen with a high mount 'tune.

Meh... I have a Satantune on my bike, and although now the muffler has lost its raspy snarly sound (due to the packing being carboned up or packed down??), IMHO it still doesn't sound as nice as a Remus, Micron, or Scorpion. Still, I AM happy with it.

I love how people always think one exhaust sounds better than all the other exhausts... Come on guys, its a vfr, it will sound awesome no matter what you put on it.

I have had a two brothers carbon standard mount and it sounded nice but now have the staintune highmount. I like this pipe much better for a few reasons. The diamater of the can is smaller, it tucks very nicely up along the tail section, very high quality build and unlike other pipes it does not require any repacking ever. The baffles are permanent plates. I am so happy with the staintune I am looking into putting one on one of my two KLR's despite it costing nearly as much as the bike is worth

Two Brothers high mount on my 5th gen. Not sure how common they are. Any of them will sound great. Just keep looking here, ebay and craigs and you will find one.

again, i called and ordered a system this morning. When i contacted them they informed me that you could order the high mount pipe. My total out the door shipped was 197.30. So if someone is looking for a high mount system Delkevic informed me that they DO offer the high mount mid pipe, converting the system to high mount system.

Sorry I was reading on my phone and missed your post. Thanks for clarifying that the highmount pipe is indeed an option.

To the OP, several of delkevics muffler offerings are shorties, which can be quite loud, so depending on your tolerance for exhaust noise, you might wish to look at their longer 14-18 inch mufflers.

Still worth it to try and find a used 5th gen Staintune system as they are such a good product. My polished stainless steel high right system that I got for my 4th gen around 1996/97 still looks and functions like brand new, with no re-polishing or re-packing ever needed after all these years! :fing02:

I was looking at Staintune stuff yesterday for another bike, but did notice the high mount listed several places. $840! Yikes! I bought mine twice for less in total...

I.ve just had confirmatiom from Delkevic, that the high mount link pipe is a new option, not available in the UK yet. Should be here Feb 2013. So they may be available in the USA already.

Still worth it to try and find a used 5th gen Staintune system as they are such a good product. Ouch, AU$700 for a slipon with a hi link pipe :( That's like £450GBP + shipping. Looks nice though.

Got mine for something like $450 back in 96........ and I felt so guilty back then for spending so much on a farkle for my bike .......they sure got so much more expensive through the years...... I don't think I can swing for an aftermarket pipe ever again if I buy a new bike. I guess I'm glad that at least I got one of the best when I did so....

Delkevic has their entire line listed on EBay direct from Delkevic including the high mount. I am eyeing the 304 stainless complete exhaust header set.

DAM is the best sounding and best looking of them all :tour:

I am considering this slip on, how do you like it so far? Also, is that carbon fiber just a decal or is it a textured can? I am curious about the heat of the thing most of all.
