3Rd Gen Seat Latch? Need Pics

My seat latch decided to disappear.  I have a bolt, a nut, the hook, a spring, and the cable end.  I believe the bolt loosened up on and then everything fell out.  There has to be some part that is missing, because for the life of me I can't figure this out.

What I think I need is a pic so I can find what parts I'm missing.  I looked on the parts fische, but didn't see it.

I have an old subframe from my FL in the garage, so here are some pics of that (and one of my FP I found in my archives).  The latch mechanism is held in place with a single M6 fastener (from the top).  HTH.

Ciao,

Your a life saver.  I have the cast hook, but not the internals.

You wouldn't by chance be interested in selling yours, would you?  :idea3:

That is excellent advice.  I'll make some phone calls and see what I can find.

My local salvage shop says they don't have one if I asked by model, but I'm going to stop by and see what they do have.  I did find (on ebay) this same or similar mechanism used on CB, CBR, 6th gen VFR's, and VF models of various years.  They seem to run about about $20-25 shipped, which seems kinda steep but then again I'm "frugal".

Sounds like you're on the right track. I regularly check the tightness of that fastener/bolt, because I've had the whole assembly come apart twice.

The seat latch on one of my project bikes came off somehow. Spent an hour with a coat hanger before I finally got the latch and released it.

Now that's kinda funny!

Hearing about all this makes me think I should get a longer bolt and back up the threaded casting with another nut.

The salvage yard closed early yesterday, but I'll check back with him again today.

Rollin, thank you for the offer and I will take you up on it if need be.

The salvage yard was a bust.

Rollin, PM sent.

I just found it a few minutes ago.  PM me your address and it's yours for free if you pay the shipping.

I think I may still have the entire seat latch assembly from my old parts bike but it will be a few days before I can get a chance to look for it since it is buried in the crawlspace of my house.  PM me a reminder if you don't hear back from me in a day or two.

I didn't even know they could fall apart!  Sounds like you're on your way to getting it sorted locally, though.  Nice to know, too, that it is (yet another) common Honda part!

Ciao,

Thanks to Rollin, my seat is back to latchin'.  The casting threads are stripped to h#ll, I'm sure that is why is loosened up in the first place.  I'm going to thread in a longer bolt and capture the hook with a nut.  You may want to look yours over, I don't know how many more latches Rollin has!
