I've been lusting after a high mount exhaust like everyone else who doesn't have one :) The problem is I ride with my girlfriend quite often. Can a passenger be comfortable with a high mount? Any 3rd gen specific info would be awesome!
I was just thinking though this idea today as well. Sadly I can't give any insight, but I am equally I interested in the answers...

I already have the delkevic collector box mentioned in the other thread. So if a professional chops it right before the collector box and completes the 2-1 from that point back it's really not much material or too many turns. I think it would be gorgeous and nicer than just a high mount link pipe. No more huge ugly collector!
And I can keep my recently powder coated center stand.
Am I crazy? Any guesses or educated opinions on what ditching the collector would mean for performance?
I'm also fuzzy on what exactly the collector does, besides create a single exit. I suppose it has something to do with back-pressure but that is only an educated guess.
Gen4's have the center stand, so maybe an aftermarket gen4 header and collector would let you have the best of both. ??
My dream for the exhaust is to find a way to route dual exits through the blinker holes, on each side of the tail light... there's just not much space back there without cooking other stuff...

Some more thoughts on this... Don't people recomend a 4th gen exhaust system be put on a 3rd gen if you're looking for a performance increase? Like this:
4th gen exhaust systems don't have the giant exhaust collector. I guess if this bolts right up to a 3rd gen I should have thought more about this issue before I bought this:
However, if adding the collector box-less 4th gen system is an improvement then cutting out the collector box on my system and esentially copying the 4th gen system shouldn't have any negative consequenqes... I hope!
I guess I'm just fascinated with the idea of ditching the collector box and link pipe (with their ugly bolts and connections) for a smoother look of only one connection between the exhaust pipe and muffler. Who knows... If I'm getting the exhaust work done anyway maybe I'd be happier with a left exit!
Serious question... what's the big deal about left exit? Is it to see the entire wheel?

Yup it's to see the entire amazingly f'in awesome 8 spoke wheel. It's the only part of the bike Honda couldn't make any better. To be honest I'm not sure I love the left exit though.
Only problem with 4th gen pipes is I'll lose my center stand. And I'll need a new muffler. That's $$$` i think i could pull this off for pretty cheap considering i have the delk collector and I can keep my 2 bros muffler. I'm very fond of it!
Yes, many have swapped the 94-97 exhaust onto the 90-93 and it works fine.
The giant collector box is probably heavier than the newer model's system without.
