Hi all! I parked my 3rd gen in an embankment last summer. Fortunately wasn't hurt, but the bike was. I figured it'd be a good time to pick up something a bit newer. I couldn't not get a Honda V4 so here I am. I picked up a 99 with 5800 miles and put about 2500 of my own on it last year. Just put a Delkevic high mount on a couple days ago, and it's otherwise stock as of right now. Here are pics of the 3rd gen in the bushes/trees and the new to me 5th gen.
Wow thats one heck of a crash. Glad you survived that one. I live in Indy and make it down to the twisties of Brown county occasionally. We lost a friend there a couple years ago. Those roads are fun but can be dangerous especially all of the blind drive ways!
Congrats on the 5th gen. I am sure that you will love it even more than your 3rd gen. Hopefully all of the Indiana VFRD members can meet up for a ride sometime!
Good looking 5th gen! Quick question about that high mount. Did it come with everything you need to mount it? I notice you don't have the band on the muffler, did they not send it or did you decide not to use it? I have heard that they sometimes forget to send pieces and you have to call them. I was originally looking at a carbon TriOval high mount from them, but now I am thinking about the one you have pictured.
Once it gets warmer outside, I would be very interested in a full review of that slipon. How hot does it get, is it too loud, soft saddlebags safe... the normal questions.
It came with the band, but I have to figure out a way to mount it. The canister sits back just a bit past the passenger peg mount. A couple other people have made their own brackets and mounted it to the under tail. I ran it in the garage a bit and it sounds good with the baffle and fairly loud but still pretty sweet without it.
Hey guys in Indiana, could you help keep an eye out for a 5th Gen for me? I am in DC but would like to send the whole bike to Jamie Daugherty's shop for a tune then ship it here. He has already agreed to assist with the in person meet with the local and pickup to the shop.
Matter of fact, I was in brief talks with a seller in Sheridan who has a nice 1999 but it is his first time using CL and he has not replied back since Saturday. Wouldn't give any info even his name. He was definitely skeptical. Gave him my number as well as Jamie's and he has yet to call. Any suggestions? Maybe someone is local but then I don't want to spook the guy like the whole internet is watching him. If you guys can think of anything I'm open to ideas. I already even sent Jamie the funds just in case he calls. I've always wanted a VFR and now is the best time so i figured I'd join the forum. Hope to be on the 2 VFR forums for awhile.
