This one's for you Belfry

Note to self #1: I should have bought those Powerlet inner gloves years ago

Note to self #2: check your camera settings; now all you took were small/low res pictures.

Yesterday I rode around the http://en.wikipedia....iki/Markerwaard

The area north of Amsterdam has a few very touristic villages. Let's rake in the Yankee Dollar!!

The area no exception to being below sea level, so there are dikes and canals everywhere!

A "natural" place to build your house/workshop/church.

Is this Timmy's house in the Netherlands???

Let's not miss this left turn..

Or get off the road...

Or you end up

The dikes keep the water away

but why not put a bicycle path on top eh?

You want a white or a brown knitted woolen sweater??

Told you before how we pump the water higher bit by bit. If you look carefully, you see the car just behind the dike.

Edam does exist!!!

Has some nice old buildings, the entire area is littered with them by the way.

Water pumps from left to right (behind the flagpole , next to it a later added pumping house (diesel or electric)

Ok, I'll bite. The pacifier on the key ring serves what purpose? Thanks for the photos, they were nice, and I learned some as I enjoyed them. Rubber side down, Dave

I'm glad I didn't bet on what it meant, I was thinking something way twisted. Of course, I was reading into it as I remembered some of your past posts.

Thanks, Dutchy!  Great pics as usual.  When I read your Gouda post I was reminded of a geography lesson in elementary school.  When we got to the Netherlands, the teacher brought in a surprise: two wheels of cheese, Edam and Gouda.  Ever since then I always think of them together, like black and white ... or VFR and fun.    I'm glad I was able to give you an excuse to go for a ride, not that you need my help.    I had to chuckle at the Greek Mac ... with their recent financial troubles I doubt that name would have a lot of positive associations in Europe.  Was it at least made with Edam cheese?

Nice looking ride Dutchy. It's a very picturesque country!

#8

Great pictures as usual.

Thanks for the pics. Some beautiful country, and cool buildings.

Mickey D's continues to try and take over the world, I see. :goofy:

Monty Pythons cheese shop has a long list for you.

Red Lester, Tilsit, Caerphilly cheese perhaps?

There's not much call for cheddar though.
