3Rd Gen Open Header?

I'm going to be undergoing a VFR 750 streetfighter project soon and naturally I want it to growl. I personally am a fan of loud stuff (more so than others) and im curious, how difficult is it to jet the bike for open header? Has it been done? I've done some searching but sadly came up empty handed.

Bad idea. It's stuff like this that gets motorcycle-specific noise laws passed. Next thing you know, they're pulling all motorcycles over for a mandatory sound check.

I have an aftermarket exhaust on my bike, but it's not that loud, and certainly nowhere near as loud as an open piped Harley, which I do hear quite often, and they're awful.

Please fit a muffler, some sort of muffler. Do the rest of us a favour. Thank you.

Not to mention converting a classic 3rd gen VFR to a fairing-less streetfighter... blasphemy.

A street fighter 3rd gen isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm sure vfrcapn means he'd hate to see a pristine third gen get butchered :-)

I also agree this is a bad idea. The bike can be PLENTY loud and still have an exhaust system. It needs one to run properly. Check out delkevic systems for third and forth gens. Plenty of info here on that.

Besides, if you're building a fighter a nice exhaust will be noticed and appreciated.

For cheap, light and louder... I really like this idea. 800cc you say? Was that due to pipe diameter?

Probably because DanMoto doesn't offer anything for the 3rd gen, so he bought something "close enough" and made it work.

DanMoto probably uses about the same can for everything, a generic 2" ID for almost all their offerings.
Just the midpipes are different I'm gonna guess.

3rd/4th gens can sound ok with a muffler methink.......

If I had 300-400 bucks I'd buy a delkavic system in a second. But seeing how funds are very limited its not really an option. And no, my 3rd gens fairings are QUITE damaged.

Yeah, Danmoto did'nt offer a 3rd gen slip on, that's why I went with the 800 setup. Also it was ~$80.00 delivered.

Sorry, forgot to mention, you'll have to fabricate a ring (flange) with two holes to clamp the pipe to the stock collector( you can just make it out in the pic.)
