Taller Touring Windscreen?

Not finding much yet.  What is out there that is a bit taller than stock?

#2

I have a similar desire for less wind for my 91, maybe there is a wind deflector that can be mounted on the existing windscreen that works?

#4

I do have one of those from an MRA Vario that I could try, but it will require some holes.  Maybe posi-lock would work for testing.

Looked at the Laminar Lip site and they don't have anything for the '14 yet.  I have used Laminar Lips on VStroms to great effect.

Wonder if Givi has anything in the works...

#5

Just saw a couple of universal mount spoilers over at Revzilla suited to the '14.

Givi just released one

Check givi.it.

I don't like it that much, looks à bit odd

You could probably make a Laminar Lip for a 6th-gen work, I can't imagine the 8th-gen windshield is significantly different. Otherwise probably just wait a month or two, I'm sure most of the major brands will have options out.

I have the clamp on vario X-creen from MRA on my 6th gen. I've played with it's position a lot but I haven't noticed much difference for my $150 investment, though.

Just got this from Zero Gravity when asking if they have a screen in the works:

Yes, we're working on it right now. There's no estimated completion date at the moment but I'll make sure you're on the list of people we contact when we have them ready.

  Thanks for contacting us.....ZG

Let me know when MRA makes one for a Gen 8 bike...

Not sure what you mean, the ERMax is a double bubble for the 8th Gen and available now.  http://www.motomachi...14-_p_5029.html

I see the ERMax  -- was referring to the MRA.  Something has not been quite right with the VFR forum as posts are arriving out of order.

Is that dead bugs I see on the front?  You should really clean it, if it's going to be sitting there for awhile.  But then again, I'm anal about keeping mine clean all the time.

Givi  looks  good.  Any  problems  with  the  fit ?

#19

Perfect fit.  No issues.  Very nice quality.

Hi gilbmw,

sorry i can not give you a precise  answer for the moment, had an accident and the bike is in a honda garage waiting to be repaired,

i just measured the ermax that i had not mounted as of yet and its roughly 40 cm ( just under 16 inch's long ) . this is from the middle of the bottom end to the middle of the other .

hope this can help .

rob .

Sorry to hear about the get off. just learned that it's the same size as stock. I 'm looking for more covered so the GIVI maybe my only option.

What's the quality and fit like of the Ermax screen?

#31
Was expecting something bit more critical than that.

Have the puig touring screen with the wind deflector. Bought this because I have used puig on other bikes and have been impressed by them.

Sadly this time it was a mistake. The flip up as far as I was concerned was about as much use as a chocolate fire guard and didn't appear to make a blind bit of difference above 70 mph.

The whole trailing edge ( edge nearest rider) was in continual movement at speeds above 70 mph which had the effect of rattling the helmet so much so that the vision was blurred. Didn't find there was any added protection over the std screen it's certainly not suitable for touring. It had done my head in after 100 miles. And I was dreading the return journey. It lasted a few hundred more miles with the flip up in various positions In a vain attempt to help me come to terms with it.

Sadly not the screen was removed and is languishing in it box at the back of the garage.
The original is back on.

Yeah I was not too impressed with the Puig for this model I think the Givi is quite a bit better but I haven't ridden may miles with it yet, kind of cold here.

#33

I had the Puig Racing screen (light smoke) installed today.

The lowest one of the lot from Puig, but still a little higher than OEM.

I am happy with it.

Let us know how you get on with it.
#35

Looks good!  For some reason I thought it would be a pinch darker than that, but makes sense.  Me like. :)

Let us know how you get on with it.

A little less noise on the highway, but also less wind pressure on the head.

I am hoping that my bullet cam attached to the helmet will pick up less wind noise while driving, but I still need to test that.

My OEM screen had been scratched previously as a result of not paying attantion while polishing the bike. I like the looks of this screen and it was the picture of PearlBlueSoul that got me into buying it.

On the pictures that I had seen so far it seems that the trailing edge is curling upward, but for the racing (Jetstream) version this is not the case. Because of PearlBlueSoul's picture I realised that the actual screen is different from the images on their website concerning the trailing edge.
