Nothing lasts forever. Nothing.

As time goes on, one has to reflect on where and what one spends his energy and enthusiasm on.

And that inevitably leads to the conclusion that it is time to say goodbye.

You feel that things have changed for the worse.

Especially when things are getting chilly and the warnings are being issued, you wonder "why continue this?". Do I need this shyte in my life?

Well, that point has been reached for Dutchy.

Leaves falling, freezing at night, plenty warnings in recent days.

Time to give it up pal.

So,  I bid farewell to the 2014 riding season!!!

For the last time in 2014, I have been riding my redslut today  :goofy:  , filled her up (ooops!!), gave her some "quality time" by riding her hard and gave her a good licking (of wax, what else did you pervs think eh? :goofy:  ).

Nice "goodbye" post there Dutchy! Always enjoy your reading your post. You're a very cunning linguist.

Dutchy is unleashing cognitive dissonance on VFRD! Protect yourselves!

Either libation will deal with the affliction. When holding two conflicting solutions in either hand, best consume them both.

I put a 24" monitor in the garage and a $99 Apple TV. I have and old tuner in there with a pair of outdoor Yamaha speakers. I'll fire up the TV, and put on my favorite Motogp race races and watch while sitting on the bike and finger banging the throttle, clutch, and brake. Kind of like those little rides you used to see in front of kids stores. What can I say, it gets me through the winter :)

How many miles did you get in this year? Since 1/1, I'm at 12,019 (a record for me). I'll probably get up 12.5k or so (by 12/31) but not 13.

The first Iron Butt I ever did was in 2012 when I rode 1,008 miles in just under 16 hours. This summer I did my second (1,042 miles in just over 16 hours). I broke several other personal records this year, too. I didn't set out to break any, I just happened to.

I managed 8900 km's this year between insuring the bike In late March and riding until late October. Wife and kids spent 18 days at her parents over the summer and whilst they were away I had ample time to hit the road and managed almost 3500 km's in those couple weeks. Best I have ever done in one year was on my old 97 VFR750 during the first year I had her. Managed nearly 20,000 km's that first year. Put more kilometres on the bike this year than I did the car, and that always makes for a good year. :)

Managed 6,257 miles to date, from new in late May . I will ride it all year long as we do not get snow here very often, and they do not salt the roads either. Sometimes they put a bit of grit down.

The only regular bad weather to stop riding in is storms or winds, as it blows salt water and waves over the favourite coast roads.  do not want to get the bike covered in salt water from the spray.

I have started wearing the puffy anorak again on the bike, so must be winter ! Not the best crash protection maybe, but nice and warm !

Well the warnings did materialize, below freezing last night and only a few above during the day.... That means salt on the roads... game over for 2014.

Personally I prefer the Edinburgh tattoo over the Amsterdam one...  :goofy:

Black Bear, back to barracks....

Damn Leon, you had me there for a second. I thought you decided to sell the redslut and buy a "stinky" I-4 :-D ...
