Winter Mods

So far I have lower foot pegs. Powdercoated some parts. Next is Guhl reflash,pair block and Decat of the exaust.Can't wait for spring. Winter in Canada is long and cold,so I need some projects to get me through.I'll post my results,in the spring.Whats everyone else up to?

Sent my ecu to don already.

Painted my pannier covers - considering the tankslapper protective film.

Also Im in the process of replacing every rusty bolts to stainless - not an easy task I must admit.

i have a lot of rusty bolts ...my '83 Interceptor doesn't have nearly as much rust

Yeah, it seems Honda use to have a better quality fasteners before...saving saving and saving.

Installed my SW Motech topcase rack and the OEM center stand, need to find a plug to connect to the quartet harness and maybe fabricate a bracket to add a USB outlet. Also waiting on the center stem mount for my ram ball. Not sure what else to do for now. No reflash until I first make friends with the bike (bought in November and have less than 100 miles on it...) so I can recognize the improvements.

I had the same problems with FF Carbon, although Tim Frenzel replied (although sometimes late) to my mails. The drive-shaft cover wasn't properly made, so I had to sent it back. The swing-arm hugger came without proper installation instructions. The lack of a proper installation kit/instructions makes it's very difficult to do a safe and proper installation. Also, even if you want, you can't buy the OEM installation kit (bolts, washers etc.) from Honda.

Bolts - I'm going for Pro-Bolt. A year ago I asked them if they were going to prepare a "kit" for the VFR 1200...still waiting for an answer. But Pro-Bolt is good anyway, so...

I managed to fabricate my own fasteners for a swingarm hugger - its in place already. You"re right - the fastener kit for the hugger is not sold separetly

but its not a big deal.

I managed also to refurbuish the driveshat cover which is also in place but it does not fit so good as the OEM does - lets say 85% good.

However i needed to cut the stock one and bond its mounts to the carbon cover. 

Frame inserts have the inside mounts fabricate incorrectly. Not a big deal here.

The belly-pan was also not a 100% fit to go but this one was the less problematic of them all. Small shif-shaft cover fits good.

Everything can be done but not for the price they want for it. Will I ever go with Tim again? Never in my life again...

He replied to my email after a few days that driveshaft cover must have been a kind of "production problem" and said to send it back.

Not going to happen since I have already paid the customs duties.

The fact he knew the cover does not fit means STAY AWAY FROM HIM FOLKS! He's a liar.

Meanwhile the fight to get rid of the rusty bolts reached the phase one! Fase two: brake my wallet with the ProBolt LOL

Do you live anywhere near Portage and Main. LOL. I remember my parents telling stories of Winterpeg and the cold, long winters. Moved to Saskatchewan when I was 2 so don't remember much other than the HUGE Mosquitos that would swarm around our cottage when ever we back to visit my grand parents during summer holidays.

Back to the carbon fibre thing though. I realize it is not real carbon fibre but some of the automotive vinyl and sign shops sell adhesive carbon fibre film that is really nice looking and quite thick compared to the printed 3M vinyl style stuff. I've seen a few car hoods done in town and the stuff looks pretty good. Given its overall thickness it would be something to be done by a pro installer since it needs to be heated and formed when installing but might be an option to consider if you want to do any other fairing parts. The sheet is similar to this stuff.

I live 25 miles north of portage and main. Your right,screaming cold in the winter,and mosquitoes that would carry away a small dog in the summer.Lol.

Looks like I'm done for this year. Going to take back my plate tomorrow and renew the insurance - weather looks good.

-carbon fiber panels(belly pan, side frame, driveshaft, front and rear fender)

-2 kilos of new stainless fasteners

-12v and usb sockets

-k&n air filter

-led tail light

-kaoko cruise control

-guhl reflash

Besides normal maintence:

-final drive oil

-engine oil and filter

-new brake fluid

Please post how you like your windscreen extension. I bought a V-Stream touring screen and very unhappy with the noise/windblast. I was hoping for something as quiet as my Vetter faired '76 Goldwing was.

Windscreen extension...170€ for a piece of plastic and two metal brackets...aint cheap at all!

Fitting? Those two black plastic covers are unpainted and suppose to be attached with double sided tape.

This shit doesn't work! After a while it started to peel back cuz those fricking metal brackets are not matched

100%. They actually pushed the tape out...

I ended peeling the entire double sided tape out and painted those covers first. First torqued the bracket to the mirrors

and then glued the covers with a black RTV. Holds like a baobab...same I did with the front fender extender.

I know removing this now means a lot of pain in the ass and probably damaged paint but I do not plan to remove this

because it works like a charm. 

I'm 187 cm's and the stock screen blast all the flowing air into my helmet. Right in the middle. I set the extension to the middle setting

(you have 3) and what I feel is a bit of a wind rush. Almost nothing. The lexan itself is a same quality as the stock screen - made by the same manufacturer.

Very good quality.

About the appearance...I like it, some of my friends do not. Its personal.
