RonAyers part fiche is showing the early 5th gens having more plates than the 2000 (i.e. 1999 8 plates, 9 friction disks vs 2000 7 plates, 8 friction disks)... is this true? I thought it was the other way around.

Also, are the pressure plates interchangeable from '99 to '00? The part numbers are similar but not the same (i.e. 22350-ML7-000 vs 22350-MBG-D00)

That is correct.
00/01 are the same as 02/06
