Another V4 Brought Me Home Last Night

No it's not RSV4, but I figured if old farts like Kimball could ride one then I needed one too!

This makes 5 current V- fours I own.
86, 99, 02 & 04 VFR's and this 03 ST1300.
Two up riding on the VFR was just killing my wrist. So I needed a different bike for more enjoyable two up rides.

They are certainly different riding them like a luxury barge. Some people can make them go quickly and keep up maybe even 2 up . Have fun and enjoy all the new tires you get to test .

Congrats Kevin. It's very hard to beat two-up riding, in comfort.

That's a terrific bike for touring and has lots of punch. Looks like it's in good shape. I think that will be my transition bike from the VFR to ST1300 (maybe Honda will modernize it more in the coming years) then a Wing.

Nice to have some options. Sweet bike .......I tour all the time with STs. Especially good for coast to coast with long stretches of no gas out west!!!! When are you coming?

I have had a year to dial in the ST for mountain twisties. I will have it at TMAC if anyone wants to see what a well prepped ST will do in the mountains. It is hefty machine but it is effortless to ride and quick enough to be fun.

But moving to clean the garage is a pain in the lower back. There is a blue ST1300 in there somewhere in a gaggle of VFRs.

WOW, for a 700 lb plus bike these things are deceptively quick!  :unsure:

Ran 250 miles of my favorite Mid TN loop two up today on this stock 03 ST1300 w/54k miles on it and I'm impressed. It is almost boringly Smooth to the point you don't realize just how quick you are going. Prior to heading out today I made a few adjustments to include increasing rear damping & pre-load and set tire pressure which really helped the feel of the bike all around. Also did a quick radar detector install just to feel better and that is a good thing because I was just about going faster everywhere on the ST than I avg on the Viffer. I would glance down at the speedo and think holy crap am i carrying some serious speed. I mostly avg a 60-70 mph pace on the VFR and was easily carrying 10-15 over that feeling like I was going slow.

I easily scrubber the new 023 rear edge to edge just on the way to Pucketts for breakfast, the half worn 023 front was OK but not ideal. I'll be spooning on some Michelins soon. Today was a perfect day to ride, sunny and low 70's, i was really surprised to see only one other bike there.

PS Liz fell in love with it also, so now it's on to dialing it in for me and start modding my new V4!  

It also powers up into a nice wheelie in first gear.

Congrats on the new ride BR. Once upon a time I had a '95 ST1100 and it too was deceptively quick. Going 95 before you know it! Hope you enjoy it!

Congrats on the new bike BR.  I've only had mine for a year but it tripled my VFR's miles in that year (sure sign that I'm getting old) .

Mini St fest I will come . They work very well for a big heavy bike and you can really get the suspension dialed in with a little work ,they are very sensitive to tires and pressure though .

Great bikes the ST's, I have an 1100 for touring,great mile muncher,very comfortable and quick too, good luck with your ST1300.

 I'm hoping to stick with Mid for another decade or so.  Actually, I added the -------- before some wise azz did it for me !!

Both a VFR and an ST would be fun. Variety is great, rode 3 different bikes this weekend.

My brother has a ST1100 with upgraded suspension and it is a great muncher.

The ABS pumps gave up but we found a mechanic (in Belgium) who can service/repair them for a fraction of what new units would cost.
