Screen removal / replacement instructions

Apologies for the dumb ass question... taken delivery of new dark tint Powerbronze screen. Have started looking / removing bolts from the inner panel, but some of the plastics look nicely connected together, and reluctant to force...

There is mention in the double-bubble screen thread re: screen fitting / removal instructions on here... can someone direct me please?

Try looking in some previous posts of which there have been several. I can't point you to them directly but only could if I did the searching which would be defeating the purpose.  

I would suggest using the search facility. Or alternately look for my post on bikers oracle Vfr site.

Anyone know of a stock or very near stock tinted screen?  They should come tinted IMHO.

Hi All.

Just a note that is not too clear in the instructions when removing the screen. The upper instrument surround which is what you need to remove is also physically attached and part of the two bike coloured side pieces as per photo. You could do some damage if you are not aware that this comes off as a complete assy. See photo.

And WulfVFR... opps... the instructions were a help, but in the end an element of 'trial by error' was required...

I was able to remove screen and install new one _without_ fully removing any pieces of dash. I undid the five tabs and the two screws (labeled as item 1 in the instructions). That gave me just enough room to get to the screws holding in the windshield. Just pulled down a couple inches the part of plastic held on by the tabs.

You know, when I first saw this thread recently I thought, I must be the rare one that actually finds the stock screen to be perfect, at least as far as comfort and no buffetting.  I was reluctant to change for fear of introducing buffeting, actually.  But looking at andrearonin's pics make me want this.  Love that is says VFR on it, and the perfect tint.  And probably unavailable in the US.

They are available here. The only thing holding me back is the price tag. I can't find them less than about $140! The stock screen works great but these look so much better.

I have the racing Puig screen (not touring). It's an inch longer. Noticeably better, especially when tucked (quieter, better visibility because top doesn't cut through field of vision, less wind buffeting).

It isn't tall enough for me for 70+ mph for extended periods sitting upright. But I only worry about that for the few times a year I do long highway trips (I'll get a touring windshield and only use it on those trips).

Cheers for that unfortunately I spend most of the time at 70 + and rarely have chin on tank.

Difference in airflow is significantly better. I have always run stock screens on previous bikes, but the 'bubble' on my Powerbronze screen takes away all the buffeting I was experiencing 70mph+. Question of rider height to an extent  I guess... I'm 6'0. Plus I liked the dark tint on black 😎

Resurrecting this thread as I have just fitted my new dark tint powerbronze. Haven't ridden the bike with it yet, but it sure does look great!

I just installed an Ermax Aeromax windshield on my 2014 ($140 from Moto Machines). A bit pricey, but I liked that it didn't have the side gaps like the stock shield and all the other aftermarket shields I've seen. It's got a good double bubble shape and provides better wind protection than the stock shield. Did 250 miles today to Harpers Ferry W. Va. New screen looks great and really does seem to make a difference for me at 6'3".

Those Powerbronze windscreens look good guys!  Quick question, I see "VFR" on one but don't see them on others.  Do they all come with "VFR" on them and some are harder to see than others or do some come plain (no logos) or is the "VFR" a decal?  TIA!

The US version says "interceptor", the International Version says "VFR". Or something like that.

This thread will be useful to me when I buy an aftermarket screen.

It's for the unfinished edge on the top of the screen. I left mine off because they didn't give me any!

Yep same here. Top edge of your screen. Looks crap and comes off anyway, so I binned it.

Not 8th gen specifically, but I've been told the rubber strip around the outside of a windscreen helps re-route rainwater that lands on the screen.  Without the strip, rain tends to blow up to the top edge then back at the rider.  Lots of bikes don't have them, of course, so not really sure effective they are.  I've never tested it so no direct opinion and as usual, YMMV.

A bit noisier but massive improvement in wind protection. You know how sometimes you might want to flip the visor up to dry your face off (trying not to be too gross here)? Tried that and nothing happened! Had to stretch my neck up to get the wind on my face! :blush:

That edging looks a lot better on the darker tint version, doesn't stand out as much. Did you tack it down with silastic or something? Mine just kept lifting, in frustration just got rid of it. Great screen for a great bike.

Thanks and nope, the edging's not on there! I'd used it on a previous bike and spent half my time trying to get it stuck back on so didn't bother this time :)

I just finished installing the Powerbronze windscreen. The 5 tabs on the inner visor were a pain. I had to use a flat screw driver to pry them, damaging them slightly in the process. Honda's fit and finish is great until you need to take apart the puzzle. :D
