High mid pipe

Was wondering if anyone happens to have or know where I could get a midpipe so I could move my Delkevic slip-on from low to high?

Delkevic is one of the few exhaust companies that will sell link pipes separately, fortunately.  At least, that's what I've heard in the past.  Good luck!

I sent an email to Delkevic asking if they would sell the high mount mip pipe and mounting strap; waiting to see if they answer.

Took the advice and contacted Delkevic; they responded with a yes and a price of $88 shipped for a high level mid pipe.

So now I would like to ask where does the muffler strap attach to on a 4th Gen VFR?  My bike is not at my house so I can not go look for myself.

There is a threaded lug welded to the rear sub frame.

you have to make a strap using some flat (I used aluminium) of the appropriate length and a hole in each end. one hole bolts into the lug, the other into your muffler strap.

You need to remove the rear tail section plastics to access the lugs.

Thanks dogman, have ordered a mid pipe and will make a strap (from aluminum) once it arrives.

I have a Delkevic midpipe with TBR can on mine,just made a little tab for the muffler.I haven't got the spring mount U's from Burns zapped on yet so I'm rolling around safety wire style :blush:

Soooo....received a box on the doorstep Friday evening from Delkevic...wha-who....perfect timing, can put it on this 4th of July weekend!!!  Opened the box to find a midpipe, a

silencer strap and a support bar plus new bolts.....wha-who again....do not have to make anything....just bolts right on......WRONG!

After getting the rear fairings off and the current low mount Delkevic can and midpipe off, I place the support bar up to the frame and find the holes do not line-up...not even close, see picture below.  I can make it work by drilling a new hole in it, but geeze....it is just impossible anymore to get the correct components!!

Drilling those new holes that align takes 5 minutes.  Ok 10 minutes if you take your time, drink some coffee, etc.  Longer if you have to go buy a drill bit.

Yes I know I can drill a new hole and perhaps cut off the end to make the support bracket fit....my comment is why do I have to do this?  I would think that Delkevic would have had the dimensions correct by this time, or Delkevic sent the wrong component.  Either way I did not receive a component that fits.  I also purchased a new can strap which they sent, but did not include the rubber padding that goes between the strap and can.  Contacted Delkevic and was told that the rubber padding is not included with the strap unless I

purchased a new can.  Really!

Just frustrated and venting.

My guess is that they just sent you the wrong mount.  But their customer service is obviously dodgy, so I think it's time for self-help...

Yeah I think Delkevic sent me the wrong bracket....so I decided I would just drill a new hole; marked where the hole should be and got my drill and bits out and.....ya know...that bracket is stainless steel, at least 5mm thick and I would need to purchase several new drill bits in order to get through that bracket....and I do not want to do this.  Delkevic needs to send me the correct bracket or they buy the new drill bits.  Have to see what customer service replies to me on July 5th....or whenever they get back to me.

I just put everything back the way it was.....although 104°F today and all next week so no riding in my near plans anyways.

OK.....found the problem.....I did not have the fitment guide from Delkevic which showed that I was trying to install the bracket incorrectly.  I was trying to use the two threaded holes that the side hard cases use....the two that are somewhat shown in my picture above.  The threaded hole to the right is correct, but the bracket bolts under the passenger footpeg bracket!!....I never ever even considered this....just seems wrong, but that is how Delkevic shows it goes.

So a big thank you went to Delkevic customer service Janielle for sending me the fitment guide and she is going to send me the rubbing padding for the new silencer strap I purchased.  Had time last night to install everything and all went smoothly, no problems.  Have not gone for a ride yet so I do not know if the sound will be any different or not....that will be this weekend.

Anyway you could post the fitment guide?  I have the same pipe and am trying toake it work with my 3rd gen.  I think the mounting hole locations may be different...

Ah I see what happened now.  I have a 4th gen exhaust installed on my 3rd gen.  The mounting holes in the subframe on the 3rd gen are different than the 4th gen.  I ordered the 4th gen mounting kit, the pipe works but the mounting bracket is a no go.  I'll contact delkevic and see about returning and swapping out mounting brackets.

Just got the word back from Janielle.  They cannot seperate link pipes and brackets into seperate pieces.  So I would have to buy both sets to get what I need with my 3rd gen with a 4th gen exhaust.  I will just try to make my own bracket or use the one I got and massage it to fit.

KOCONUT: As shown in the picture I posted, the "bracket" was a simple flat piece of stainless steel with three holes in it with a short tab welded onto it.  To me this is way over-kill; the short tab by itself would be adequate for the muffler strap to attach to....not like there is alot of weight here.  Actually I had gone to my local Home Depot and found a flat piece of aluminum and I was just going to make my own "tab" out of it before Janielle sent me the fitment guide.

The aluminum would be easy to drill and round-off the edges, no rust, lightweight....could you just do this?   Now I have no idea how different the 3rd Gen subframe is, so maybe it is far more difficult; could you post a picture?

Of course I could just cut off the tab.  That's what I ended up doing.  But I would have rather had the correct part.  Anyways I got it installed.  Looks good but a little too loud.  Will prob just go back to the yoshimura muffler.  Just need to repack it and buff the canister while it's off

Looks great!  I have the "Quiet Tip" baffle in mine, and it does help.  But, so does re-packing, if the fibreglass is old.  FYI, the original TBR high-level cans were about 6" shorter, maybe less.

I have a full TBR header set & Delkevic mid length 350mm Ti silencer, it sounds great I was worried it was maybe to loud, but did my first trackday last week & had it noise tested at 98db @ 5500rpm, which was much lower than I was expecting. But everyone on the trackday said it was the best sounding bike down the main straight opposite the garages & sounded awesome :)

I think my hidden mount is a cleaner look without a strap :)

Looks like he may have fabricated a mount wihin the "V" of the passenger peg hanger...

There are two mounts, one is combined with a longer bolt on the exhaust clamp in the vee of the foot peg & the second is an L piece of galvanised steel that is folded at 90 degrees along one of the legs of the L this is clamped to the lower subframe rail & the other leg of the L has a slot cut in the under tray to allow it to protrude approx 30mm below the under tray. Then I added a shaped piece of galvanised steel strip to the inner side of the can with two pop rivets holding it to the can & a short M5 bolt with nyloc nut connects the strip to the leg of the L bracket.

It's a bit belt & braces, but has been there 4 years & 8500miles, still solid as a rock. You could probably get away without the strip mount as this can weighs very little, but it works fine. You can only use this strip mount on SS or Ti cans, alloy or carbon might just pull the rivets through.

That's for a third gen.

Nope, it is for a 4th Gen...I just had it turned-around.  The single hole on the far right bolts there, but the two holes on the left go under the right side passenger foor peg bracket.  Exact fit.
