Looking to ram mount my phone to the yoke nut for GPS etc. I want to power it via a SAE to USB adapter. My questions, will installing the adapter cause a drain on the battery. What would my best way be to run the wire while concealing it. Can I add a spliter to the SAE so I can have one outlet for the USB and the other for the trickle charger. I have a 15 vfr dlx. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same bike. When I am not on the trickle charger, I plug the USB onto the connector. Did not see the need for a splitter. I tend to use the USB to charge a small battery while riding. If the engine is not running, it will draw on the battery. I then use the battery for other things, like charging my SENA or phone or running the GPS.

Thank you for the information. On your bike, how did you run the usb cord from the dash back to the battery? Or do you just store the device in the compartment under the rear seat while it charges?
