Paint Code

Does anyone know, or know how to find the paint code for the 2014 bronze wheels.  I scratched my rear on the exhaust braket while taking the wheel off.

I found this code YR-325M pyrite brown metalic for a 2015 BMW , I have ordered some touch up and see how close it is.

Ask at your local dealer or try rs bike paints. 

I found exact matches for Honda Italian Red R157 at Colorrite Distributing. The dealer referred me to them when I went I asked hime for touch up paint. You'll need the official color name and code number, but I found Colorrite to be a good resource.

That about covers it.

One way is to look in the Honda Parts Catalog for the year and model of the bike.  Sometimes the color code is shown in the description.  But, if there was only one color wheel available that year, no code may be shown.  Which is the case for the 2014 US-spec VFR1200, unfortunately.  I don't know this model, but you could also check other model years when the same wheel colors were available--maybe one of those years had more than one color available (and thus a color code shown)? 

Another thing you can try is find out if any other parts on the bike (or any bike!) have the same paint color as the wheels you're trying to match, and check the parts catalogues for that bike, etc.  Good luck.

Wait what?!?  So whenever someone compliments my wheels which they usually call bronze or gold I should correct them and say they're actually BROWN?!?  Ugh!  I'm gonna pretend I never saw this thread and continue to call them bronze  :tongue:

This one is called "Misty Copper" (by Prismatic Powder), but I call them my chocolate wheels :)

well stupic paint place sent me a lexus opal peral kit, sorta purple with pearl. They are re sending right color. man that color they sent was hideous.

I've just got my wheel touch up paint but haven't used it yet.  It looks dark, in fact much darker that the handlebars and engine cases which now has me thinking:  Are these the same colour as the wheels or just a bit similar.

Well the Bmw pyrite brown is way darker than our wheels. Darn it. I painted my lead wheel weights to test it. Some angles look close but top down looks dark. Maybe the base is different  but I assumed the lead weights looked like cast alum

That reminds me, I had searched hi and lo for wheel weights that would at least come close to matching the wheels outta the box but no luck.

It was a good place to test my touch up paint. LOL, I'm sure guy who does first tire change will be like wtf , we don't have those colors. I prefer black over lead.

I had a similar experience, I sprayed a hub centre cover (plastic toilet cistern overflow plug!) with rattle-can paint I bought from Halfords (a well-known automart here in UK). "The Halfords Ford 'Tibetan Gold' is an exact match for the Ford codes: 1, F, L4, M4 & 1463C" apparently. It's a really good match for the engine case covers but not quite right for the wheels which are not quite so bright a shade. Still, it's not bad...

It was common practice to put different base coats on before the top colour coat ... I'd try that sprayed over a black base coat, a bit of trial and error and you should end up somewhere near right

I might try white base . 

Even Honda don't know what the paint code is for the wheels, here's a reply I got from them.

I writing with an update since my previous e-mail.

I have been in contact with R S Paint, the paint specialist company that Honda (UK) recommend.

Quite often or not, wheels are not colour – coded, and they would need to see the bike or a piece of the wheel.

Phil at R S Paints has suggested you make contact with them directly and sent through some images so they can look to assist with the paint code you are requesting.
