Hey all, this has been in the works for a bit and I'm finally ready to make an initial run available.

I developed this rearset adapter while building a custom '99. I had a set of CBR929/954RR Sato brand rearsets on hand, and so developed the adapters around them. I have designed them to place a racing-style 954RR rearset in the oem VFR peg position at the lowest, most forward position when the new rearsets are installed in the CBR orientation. This allows track or race style "up & back" adjustment. Because of the 2-pc design of most racing rearsets, the plates can also be flipped Left to Right to allow the pegs to be positioned lower than stock VFR position.

Can be set up for Standard or GP style reverse shifting

I am selling these adapters as a kit at a pre-order price of $140 for the 1st 10 orders. All orders beyond the 1st 10 will be $150.

What you receive in the kit:

- 1 pair billet 6061-T6 aluminum adapter plates in Bare Bright or Satin Brushed finish (sorry, no anodize option at this time)

- 1 set of 6061-T6 spacers

- stainless steel hardware

To complete this modification to your bike, you will also need to purchase an oem or aftermarket set of rearsets made to fit a 00-2003 CBR929RR or 954RR (fit is the same). I chose to leave this option to the end user rather than A) maintain an inventory and B) limit style and selection. The world is your oyster folks, there are a great many options out there for CBR sets!

There ARE a couple caveats, as with any custom installation:

- depending on your choice of aftermarket set, you may need to use a pressure style brake switch rather than your oem switch

- the stock heat shield is deleted

- extreme peg position adjustments may require adjustment of the brake line(s) and/or brake line replacement

- new levels of comfort and/or on-track prowess may cause untold amounts of envy from other VFR riders...

IN like Flynn. Could you let us know what the bolt spacing is for the rearset mounts? I'm curious, it looks mighty close to what my NC30 uses....

Lead time is a few weeks or less. Soon as we hit 10 we'll get started.

I will measure and let you know, don't have it comitted to memory. Just remember that the bolt spacing is only 1 part of the peg location equation - if you use other sets then you're kinda on your own for fit up.

#6

Throw me down for a set as well.  Like Scottie, I might be interested in a set for the little bike (NC35)

Thanks for putting this together.

#7

Nice, now to go check out what 54 sets are going to do here.  Good job.

I've been looking into this.  Looks like Gilles Tooling or Sato based on what I found so far.  Was hoping there was a Woodcraft set, but alas no.

#9

I am really impressed with the Driven rear sets on my FZ1. They also make a set for CBR954. I will think on it and get back.

Curious,  is one able to use the swing arm black caps

Bolt spacing is 60mm.

No sir. The parts I've designed are a fair vit smaller than the oem parts, and so the caps will not fit.

I could probably design a new cap, if there is significant interest.

#13

Well now,  time for some Ti nut  bling then.

#14

Looks awesome.

Any chance we can get a full side on view of bike square on so that I can make my mind up?

#15

I just sold some parts to rod numbers (window clutch cover).

I'm in, seb.

The bike is as yet unfinished, nor standard (custom naked conversion), so I'm not sure how much help it would be. I do have a few more pics I can link over later today.

Alright!

Thanks mate, it's more to try and figure out where the pegs end up compared to standard.

#20

I'm in.  Any other euro buyers who can share shipping here?

Thanks mate, it's more to try and figure out where the pegs end up compared to standard.

No problem. The new pegs can duplicate the standard position by being placed in the lowest, most forward position. All up and back from standard, or down and back if you flip the new (mid) plates.

#22

Like seb did for me and another mate who when we both bought bits at the same time, I am happy to share postage and forward on the aus items if everyone else is cool with it.

I already have loseb's address from when I sold him my RC51 oil cooler, and vfroz and I are both in Sydney.

When do you want the 50% deposit, Seb?

#23

Once we hit the minimum of 10, I'll send everyone a pm with paypal details.

I checked on international postage today, it looks like $25US will get 1 set to the UK or Aus. That figure should hold true for most of Europe and western Canada. Mainland USA can ship in flat rate boxes for under $10.

If the weight jumps over 2lbs, the cost goes up to about $35.

As always, I let the buyer tell me how to declare value - I have no problem with marking as a gift & low value if import duties are an issue.

#24

OK, I'm in.

Happy to share postage costs Keef.

That looks WICKED!

What subframe and tail tail is that?

Thanks. The body is a 2002 VFR tank, 08 CBR1000RR tail, & 600F4i forks alk on a 99 frame.

#28

BUMP.

How is this going Seb?

Do we have the numbers yet?

#29

I am waiting on a confirmation but yes, it looks like we do.

I was going to start pm'ing folks tomorrow, but since you asked... :D

Machine shop has already started the run, we are underway.

Hi Seb, I joined VFRD this morning and I am about to start a 5th gen project. Have you still got space on your list for another set to the UK?  Thanks, Skiddy

Group PM sent to those of you on the list, parts are in production!

I am having extras made, contact me for details if interested!

#34

Seb and my fellow rear set adaptor buyers,

I am thinking of buying a 954 trackbike to act as donor for the bits I want to swop onto my 5th gen project. am I right in thinking that the complete front end and rear end will fit relatively easily?  Will the swingarm and rear suspension mount/shock need spacers/adaptors in any way? I'm guessing the rear subframe will need a fair bit of work to adapt!

just don't want to buy something that isn't really viable. Happy for any top tips and sorry if this is old ground for many.

Cheers, Skiddy

#35

Front end will be pretty simple, swingarm will need spacers to fit properly. I made a set for another member here but he hasn't been around lately.

#36

understood Seb, thanks for the advice. If you think he has lost interest I will take those off your hands if you have a price and throw them in with my adaptors!

Skiddy

I shipped them out long ago, he just hasn't finished his bike. I have the notes somewhere for the parts, let me look.

#38

I have (2) final sets left. There will be no more, at least not of this design.

Bright (bare milled) or brushed finish, $158 shipped in the US or $150 + actual shipping worldwide

#39

I would like to grab one if you still have it.

So sorry, these sold last week. New updated version coming later this year though, stay tuned!

#41

Took me long enough but got these test fitted finally. I picked up a set of inexpensive Danmoto rearsets. I'm going to remake the rear brake line, waiting on a new heim joint to connect to the shift linkage Danmoto has in their kit, need to get a pressure brake switch.

I connected my OEM brake light switch with a simple L bracket.

And i love your choice of wheel.

Hi! I'm about to take apart my 5th gen for a rebuild the coming winter and I'm definitely interested in a set of these adapters.

Excellent. I'll start looking for some CBR954RR rearsets then. Not a long way from there to maybe installing a quickshifter too 🙂 Oh boy.. why didn't anyone warn me before how quickly and easily the motorcycle tinkering gets out of hand?

Hold that thought - the main reason for my redesign is to adapt a more modern (and therefore more widely available) rearset, likely from a newer CBR. So don't buy anything just yet...

Just checking whats the status of this? My bike lies in the garage in small pieces so not in a hurry yet but I'm itching to start sourcing the rearsets already 🙂

#48

The redesign is on the backburner while I fry bigger fish... couple more months at least.

#49

Sorry to keep bugging you but do you see this happening in let's say the next couple of months? If not then I'll probably just button this project up with the stock rearsets and take another look into this next winter.

I'm sorry, I have a lot of other projects going on right now and no funds to drop on buying parts and r&d for a revamped version. I will move forward with this when I can.

I believe there is a V1 set for sale in the classifieds here, have a look

#51

Fair enough, I can easily live with the stock ones for another riding season. I'll take a look at the classifieds.

#52

Hey Seb, how is the redesign going? I picked up a 5th gen and I'm really wanting to set it up to have gp shift at some point. I'm sure the rona has put quite a damper on progress so no rush, just curious.
