Best Bracket for SH847

I just bought a Shindengen SH847. Still waiting to get it, but wanted to find out what people have done to mount it. I just figured I'd buy or build a bracket to mount it in the original location. Is that the "best" option?

I safety wired mine on years ago. Works fine. 🙂

My friend Angus MacGyver used chewing gum and a paper clip on his.

There's a thread somewhere here that shows the Roadster mount on a 5th gen, it needed some hacksaw work, but looked clean when done.

This is what I did: 5th Gen Needs New Rec/Reg, Other examples on this thread.

If I had to to it over, I'd use rivnuts.

Ah, finally, someone with some useful information. I took a quick look at the provided info... I'll probably just drill and tap the subframe. 👌

Btw, the bike is now 25 years old, and I believe it's still running the (now malfunctioning, me thinks) original regulator/rectifier! No burnt wires or connectors, just not putting out a reliable voltage. Did the stator test, seems fine. That's a pretty good run for a subpar electrical system. I think what did it in is switching over to almost all LEDs, plus I had the front fairing (and headlights) off of it for awhile, and would test run it that way sometimes. That means almost all current from the magneto had to be shunted to ground.

Not quite, made for 6th gen, maybe could be adapted for 5th, never tried it... 

Have a handful left, but MDG is kinda outta business...

 I was joking...

It has been awhile but I think that I just drilled and tapped the frame, careful not to over torque.  Rivnuts was plan B.

I just made a simple adapter out of some 1/2' x 1/8" flat stock, and some spacers. An added advantage is getting it away from the hot subframe.  I even added a little axial fan. Probably not needed, but it can't hurt.

It's not that difficult if you have a hacksaw, and a drill.
