Well while the old girl was down I decided to play muffler man. I bought a 05 CBR under rail exhaust, a 2004 R1 under tail exhaust, and Tori gave me his bent
Gen 6 exhaust. With all this I figure I should be able to come up with something. So I decided I like the CBR so far, plus the R1's are just too big. I
got a mock up here to show you. I am waiting on the extra lower tail light piece to show up so I can hack on it. For now I am trying to get the
clearance which I dont have. It seems the Gen 4 with the top mounted caliper makes the axle sit at the top of the eccentric. So my next step is to
do the counter sunk brake caliper bolt and pivot the axle. I may have to ditch the hugger, we will see. Any thoughts, suggestions, comments are welcome!
Ambitious project! Looks like a 1000rr muffler, you may want to check out the 600rr units, I think they're a little smaller and you may get the clearance you need. Good luck!
Why not delete the existing rectangular tailight and relocate it into higher into the half moon section of the tailend, maybe using a different tail/brake light from another bike (I remember seeing some that are half-moon shaped out there) or a small oval shaped one. Then you can try and raise the muffler higher. It will most likely make it neccesary to hack apart the existing rear subrame so it will accomodate the muffler canister at the higher position. I think that's how the undertail exhaust is configured on the NR750. Lots of work, but it can be really interesting. Going with the most likely, smaller CBR600 undertail mufflert could also help.
LOL, thats just a storage box of junk, I dont even drink beer really, Thanks Dutchy

They said it was a 600rr muffler but I will try to confirm

I had thought about moving the tail light as it would hep a bit. Right now I have it at the top of the rear sub frame so I think it will work out ok. I wanted to try to make it so it can be reversed back to stock in case I sell it and some one want it the other way. I do have extra sub-frames but no extra tail pieces right now.
Thanks guys for you thoughts and Ill keep you posted. Ill see how much the eccentric moving gives me. Brian
Right side tail fairing crack @ the tab.... trait of 4th gen plastic. Exhaust looks different, but what about the middle piece that connects left and right side tail plastic? The omission of that piece will add more stress to the tail plastic due to vibration and flex, no?
