6th Gen Rear Wheels

Hi hi

Anyone knows what materials are the original rear rims made out of?

I'm looking that the OEM wheels of the new CB1000 and they look really cool. Plus they're lightweight cast aluminium.

Anyone know if they will fit the 6th gen?

Most all new Honda wheels are cast aluminum, which is naturally lightweight(lighter than steel, anyway).

Lots of people have been wondering if that wheel will work, but as far as I know, no one has tried it yet. I can't imagine that Honda would design a new hub AND a new wheel, so my $5 wager says it will slide right on.

Looks the same, but you'd have to actually measure to be sure.

I also believe its the same bolt pattern as on a Civic. If you want spinners or something on there...

I still think the old 8 spoke looks best on a VFR.

Come on SEB, if you see what they are doing with the cars that wheel will be completly diffirent. On the cars they have changed the spacing, the number of lugs, and the size.

I too think the 8 spoke looks best.

That wheel is butt igly, IMO.

I think that CB1000 wheel is UGLY.

I think those wheels on the CB1000 look great and would love to see a set on a VFR.

OK, I'll donate mine to the cause, someone just send me a set of those wheels and we'll see what happens....

If they work out, I'll have them power coated white :biggrin:

We're not talking cars here though. I mean, come on - if they were making those kinds of changes, we'd have the 7th gen VFR already! I already put my $5 down, you in?

The 8 spoke sure does look good, but it's the heaviest VFR rear wheel ever made, for a SSS VFR anyway. If it were lighter, and a matching front was available, I might have switched by now...

I don't like that CB wheel either, though.

I have weighed my '02 and now my current in use wheel, the 8-spoke, they weigh exactly the same, 13.1 lbs without the tire.

I have heard the 4th gen (5.0" wheel) weighs 12 lbs, which would be a noticeable difference.
I assume the 5th gen is about the same as the 6th gen.

what bike does the 8 spoke wheel come off of?

I sure do have my eyes set on an 8 if it's at least the same or lighter.

Having had the wheels off this wkend, I was quite shocked at the weight of the FRONT wheel with rotors compared to the REAR.

Made me wonder if the aftermarket Galfer rotors or others offer great weight savings?

I agree with Seb. I think they'll work and please paint them B#^$hes white!!! I'll be right behind you!

Is the wheel any wider on a liter bike for the larger tire?
I wouldnt put one on mine the rounded look of the wheel dosent match the sharper lines of 6th gen.Maybe a 4-5th gen?Just my 2 cents.

I am compiling some info about lightweight wheels for the VFR, I will try to post it sometime soon.

Been through this. Not 100% But same tire= photo-overlay match. Now, if the depth is the same, ought to be a breeze.

Meh...that wheel doesn't do much for me. Now these on the other hand :wub:

My cheesy glass scale weighed the 8 spoke and stock 4 gen wheel both at 14 lbs. Does not measure in ounces but its close enough to know there is not a pound difference.

The only time I had my 4th gen wheel on a scale I was told it was 12 lbs.

Maybe I will measure it again.

I dunno about the wheels but I'll take the bike in anything except puke green.

I agree, I think they just did what some folks (streetfihters) have done for some time now, taken a VFR sssa and put it on a liter sportbike and tock of the farings. Just done it in factory this time, and make it a big new thing....

I would guess it just bolts on rear, front might be a nother story...
