While at the Summit meet, I noticed a hole in the little Gauge Pod fairing piece that some 6th gens had and others didn't. We couldn't tie it down to years, as my 20002 doesn't have it, but some did, and color didn't seem to matter either....the hole can be seen here:

Got happy with the 0's I guess, since that was:
The amount of my last raise
The amount of my bonus
The amount of miles I have ridden in the last 3 weeks
The budget for a lathe/mill or other cool tool
The amount I care about anything on MTV
The amount Honda cares about what I think of their new design
Seriously, I think there were 5-6 6th gens at the Summit with those holes, but they don't seem to relate to anything, and are perfectly drilled and on more than one bike so it wasn't a user mod or drunk drilling session.

:goofy: Funny. I'm sorry, I couldn't help but tease since "0":
-is also the amount of km I've ridden in the past month
-could be the raise I get too if my performance dossier I'm working on tonight is not deemed good enough
-could be the number of hours of sleep I get tonight
-could be the number of coffees I get to drink tomorrow (always a sad day when there's no time for a good coffee)
-the number of holiday days I got this summer (and in the last 18 months)
-the number of sympathetic looks I get from students tomorrow morning at 8:30 when I tell them I got no sleep and I have no idea what to cover in class...
:fing02:
In any case, I also got a couple of holes on my '03, but mine are on the black part right of the red thingy where yours is. No idea what they were (like other sad dudes, never been allowed to investigate... ). But I never replaced the blinker fluid, maybe I should check hat first.

Do what normal boys would always do......back in the days.....
Pee into it and see if it kills it! ;p
They watch you through that hole. Be glad you have the hole, I don't, so I can never know where they are watching me from. But................I know they are watching.....................
I have figured it out! You guys are leaving you bikes parked outside. You simply have an infestation of carpenter bees. Take a look!

Don't put anything in it! If it's a one way hole you could get slapped! Everytime I find an optional hole my wife says something about exit only. That must apply to the bike as well I can only assume.

Speed hole. Those bikes are .000000001kg lighter than yours and therefore faster.
I have the holes as well, truly blessed to be Canadian. It is actually an element of the winter riding package, redirecting warm air fromt eh back of the headlights to the rider's chest. This came standard on all Canadian VFRs, and was not available in warm climate orders.

Great theory, but the bike pictured is an american bike, for sale in seattle. I too thought headlight something, although the Canadian thing is still more likely.

Random thought of the day!
For the record, that little angle piece costs $25. The side fairing is a bit more, but I think this is probably a case of "function over form". I prefer the steering stem setup for the Powerlet myself.

It is the injection hole. First they put all the plastic together and then they inject the engine, gages, radiators, fanz etc. through that hole in a liquid form. Then the solution expands and solidifies.

I noticed this on a bike at Texasmac in '07 and it's bugged me ever since. Seems like somebody had mentioned headlight adjustment when I asked but they weren't sure. Of course all of the other answers have been much more entertaining.
Unfortunately, there's no real easy answer to this.
Originally, the CANADARM was going to be installed there, until the Japanese found out that those things are about as useless as split ends on a blonde unless in zero gravity. :(
Actually, it's a Toaster.......
Just look into the hole while you're riding to see what's inside and you're TOAST! :squid:

Canadian models only. It's a viscosity meter for maple syrup.
This is also correct.
You have to make the syrup first before you can put it on the toast(s). :)

Originally, the CANADARM was going to be installed there, until the Japanese found out that those things are about as useless as split ends on a blonde unless in zero gravity. :(
While the Canadarm thing makes sense, it does raise another question.
Exactly how useful are split ends on a blonde in zero gravity?
Duh, it's the hole to access the secret VTEC mode on/off switch. With the switch on you get more torque and better fuel economy at low rpms, and with the switch off you get 50 more hp.

That stuff is like $30/litre here.
Most of it here is maple "flavoured" syrup. The real stuff isn't easy to find, and IIRC, a 300ml bottle is NZ$13 or more. Luckily, yummy NZ honey is much cheaper.

THe holes are indeed a Canadian thing - might be on Euro bikes as well - not sure.
No optional holes over here mate!!
We're all decent folk and abide by the laws of nature...
Wait a Dog Damn Cotton Pickin' Minute here... if a hole is essentially nothing, that is to say, the complete absence of anything, and no-one can prove the absence of something, how do we know these holes really exist?? Well f#%& me with a wet fish... that means the VFR has broken into new scientific ground... you have the Special "Anti-Matter" Limited Edition VFR!! (In all honesty if it is a Canadian thing and not just random acts of Japanese humour at the manufacturing plant, then somehow yours slipped over the border in a crate at some stage...)
Damn funniest thread I've ever read on a forum, guys. You guys just crack me up. I was laughing so hard I nearly fell into a hole that wasn't really there. Fortunately, with the strength of the Aussie dollar at the moment, the holes are relatively cheap.

$30.00 per liter? Time to rent a tanker trailer and make a run from here in Maple Syrup land (yes, NY produces tons of Maple Syrup and Maple products) Hmmmm, 10,000 gallons = how many liters x $30.00. Retirement city? Sounds like a plan. Now, how many of those little leaf bottles will I need and who is going to fill them up? Stop! It is just too much to contemplate! Nice try Goosechef, but the original question is long gone and it will never be answered. I don,t belive that was the point anyway, even though there were some decent attempts.
