Almost identical ergos to the VFR800.... aka perfect. Except it looks like the bars might sit just a touch higher.
Much more aggressive stance than the Connie.
Can someone knock up a comparison with a K1300s?
I await the many responses regarding the longer wheelbase and how it will supposedly kill the handling.
I went from a 2001 vfr to a 2006 k1200s....
from what I can remember....ride position is about the same
So it's gained how much weight, and length, and the pegs are still that high on the 1200f? I predict healthy enthusiasm for BLS style lowering blocks for this new VFR; I'd hate to go back to not having them on my '04.
Guys,
I dont remember the w/b on my ST1300 but if they are similar to the 1200 and I hope its shorter.....the difference would be you won't toss it around with abandon like you can toss the VFR.....I didn't take time to look up the differences but it should still ride well just might not be as nimble as the 800.....I'm sure some one who is a spechead will fill us in on those two differences...Just my perspective ...

It might not change directions as quickly but should be more smooth and stable. Especially more stable with a pillion.

Good GAWD, three of my four possible "Next bikes" in one pic... sporting Major Woodrow.
The 6th gen VFR's riding position is terrific for a sportbike/sport-tourer IMO. It would be nice if the new VFR's ergos are similar, as they look to be from the photo above.
BTW, I see the Connie's exhaust can and I can't believe people are complaining about the new VFR's exhaust. Man, that is one ugly exhaust.

I had a 2000 model VFR with Helibars and the riding position was virtually identical to my K1200S - the standard VFR bars were definitely lower IMHO
The VFR1200 looks to have slightly higher bars than the 800

If you check out
VFR1200 Brochure there is a side pic that seems to show the pipe a little smaller, maybe just the angle not sure, but I think that pipe is something we are going to have to see in person.

I used your link to access this link and it's pretty good, has the sound of the VFR running through the gears. I'm really starting to like this bike!
http://www.feelvfr.c.../pages/mainpage I'm not sure, but I think I hear my heart beating faster as I watch the demo.
From what I'm able to calculate on the spec sheet, the bike will get 36.45 mpg and should have a range of 178 miles. So I would say now that I've given it some time, got used to it. Adjusted my expectations to what it is rather than what I expected, I'd say the only complaint now is the tank needs to be bit bigger.

All this talk about lowering the pegs and stuff on VFR's...I try to raise everything up to keep it off the ground. It's interesting to see the difference in people on here who bought the VFR for it's touring ability and complain about the height of footpegs and clipons, and the people who like the sportiness and complain about the weight and lack of power. Just goes to show, you can please some of the people some of the time, but never all of the people all of the time. Personally, if they would've taken the 6th gen and gave it more power, I'd be happy just as I am. I fell in love with the looks from the first time I saw one, and still think it's one of the best looking bikes around.
I'd like to see Honda offer a bigger tank on the new VFR, or at least offer a larger aftermarket version. I stop at least every 100 miles to rest, usually sooner, so a reduced tank range isn't a huge issue for me, but it's nice not to have to stop at gas stations all the time. Past SuperHawk owners would probably consider the new bike's tank range generous by comparison! ;p

Ditto. If you do a variety of kinds of riding, the versatility of the VFR is hard to beat. I love the ergos and it still looks terrific and fresh to me. In fact, after 3 years and ~30k on this bike, everything else feels "wrong". And the weight doesn't bother me other than with short legs it's tough to "paddle" backward when necessary.
You just cant beat any vfr built. I know on my 6th gen I can drag or knee or put in a 600 mile day, usually both. Thats what so damn great about.

Thanks for clearing that up. I thought it was a toaster.
It doesn't look to me that the pillion rider is going to be very comfy. At least not for long-haul touring.
I want to see this 7th gen leaning, dragging parts especially the ugly exhaust and shaft drive housing! Uhg!
Hi guys,
Glad you're liking the pictures. They're on my site (www.CanadianMotorcycleRider.ca) and were given to me by a friend of mine. I ride an 06 VFR so I've been eagerly waiting for the new 1200 just like all of you. Will be interesting to ride it when it finally comes!
Cheers,
Dan

You can't predict ride quality and handling from wheelbase alone. Even if they were the same on two different bikes, they might not have the same rake, trail and weight distribution. And we haven't even talked about tires.....
I'd be keener to obtain the rake, offset and trail figures of the 1200.

I posted a spec compare of several bikes with the VFR1200F in another thread, included rake/trail.
Well, if the guy from MCN is to be believed, the bike "drops in" to corners outrageously well for such a long wheelbase.

I really never considered the FJR or Kaw Concours a 'sport tourer', like the K1300S or VFR is, (was).
Like the BMW K1300GT, those bigger touring bikes look like giant scooters coming down the road - where as the VFR and K1300S look like sport bikes. I think there is quite a difference. I hope the new one keeps that look too.

 Hmmm.... I currently own a 2000 VFR and a 2007 K1200S. I find it exactly the OPPOSITE as what you state having put Heli Bars on the BMW and now feeling that the bar height of the two is similar????
