I am seeking a nitrous kit for my 2010 vfr1200
I have found a couple kits. Since reading a few posts on here. I am starting to wonder if it is a good idea or should I choose another route
One kit I found that I am seriously looking at is from dynotune.. I can increase the hp by 40 without other chnages, it is a dry system that sprays in the air box
Although I have had numerous bikes over the last 20 years, I am not that electronically inclined to play with power commanders and such
Any ideas or thoughts on this would greatly help.
Thank You

Is this a joke?
Ciao,
I could see an interest in this as perhaps a drag racing thing? Is that the intent of the post? Nitros systems are cheap horsepower but dangerous in terms of posible engine damage, I would rather go with supercharging or turbo charging myself.

Wait, let me get this strait, you want to dump nitrous into your engine WITHOUT any sort of aftermarket fuel managment system??????????? That's either a giant waste of time and money or instant boom boom for your new engine (actually I guess either way it's a giant waste of time and money). Not trying to bash you bubba, just don't think you've thought this through all the way.

1. You could only carry a tiny tiny bottle on the bike.
2. You only use NO2 at spurts, not on all the time.
3. If you were to leave it on all the time you'd run out very very very quickly with the tiny tiny bottle on your bike.
4. The cost of refilling would add up quickly. Plus you'd have to find someone to refill it. There may be gas companies (notice I didnt say gasoline companies) in your area but they usually only sell NO2 to medical.

In trucks I am very familiar with nos systems, just not on bikes.
However, it would only be used under certain circumstances. Such as to truly enjoy between red lights up against another bike or larger size
The one i am looking at is only 12 ounze size

I like to play alot against other bikes,
the only thing is the dealership here is not the hip to adding items.
I am looking at into various ideas and options. When I found this site I was seeking information about nos and other options
I was looking at turbo charging, so far that has turned up zero options.
Any ideas or thoughts?
I love my bike and do not regret ever getting it.
I was tired of my bussa, seems as everyone is getting them now days, I like originality
My advice: Don't do it.
If you decide to do it anyway, be sure to have it done by somebody that knows what he's doing. Catastrophic engine failure is a very real possibility.
As far as turbo or supercharging is concerned, I think it's highly unlikely anybody will ever build one for your bike. The demand is practically zero.
If the NOS works well, I would reach for solid rocket boosters next, that will be a fun ride to the next light.

Ciao,
no joke at all
every now is when i would use it. not all the time
It seems occassionally there is always a need just to crack the throttle and hold on, or atleast with me it is...haha

Get rid of the restrictor on 1st/2nd gears to have full power in all the gears.
Details here on VFRd:

If you've already replaced the exhaust can and installed a Power Commander and air filter, you've done about all you can do (unless somebody's already made catless headers for your bike.)
A European company has a big bore kit for the 6th gen. VFR (like mine) that increases displacement almost 8%. I doubt anybody makes a big bore kit for your bike but even if they did, would you be willing to tear the entire engine apart for a modest bump in displacement? I'm sure you already know that lengthening the stroke is the only other way to increase displacement. I've seen stroker kits for cruisers but never for a sport bike.
Since Busas are a dime a dozen, I understand your desire for something different. If you truly want more power but don't want the backbreaking ergos, I'd get a liter bike and install a taller windscreen, Heli bars, and adjustable rearsets (so you can lower the pegs as far down as possible.) The problem is liter bikes are a dime a dozen, too.
P.S. Going back to installing a NOS system, I've only heard of two blown engines on a 6th gen. VFR. One engine seized because of a low oil pressure issue and the other was due to an improperly installed NOS system. Cylinder #2 had zero compression. Imagine the size of the hole in the piston.
Here's a VFR1200 engine block. Look at the wall between the rear cylinders. I doubt a big bore kit is even possible for your bike.

Just keep the RPM around 7000 - 8000, you'll have all the power you need. A turbo or supercharger would do the trick as well if you want to throw $10,000 at it. But really, the first step is to get a bike that weighs less than 600 lbs

My 1st thought was the toro1 supercharger route.
He's done a great job with the 5th and 6th gen VFR:

It might be worth contacting Dan directly at his website to see if he's interested in developing a kit for the bike:
http://www.aaperf.com/
I'd save that kind of stuff for the busa. Sort of like trying to make a 911 out of a DeVille.
I'd do the 1st/2nd gear mod and call it a day.
the nos is on its way
going to install a safetyblow out switch until i know its 100% solid
I will post photos after install but not of the fire it creates, haha unless its a really cool fire
I tricked my bussa a bit but now i want something way different and off the wall
being 6'6" 230 lbs its hard to find a bike i fit on comfortably
Thank you everyone for the info and I am sure i will be asking other questions and chipping on info I know

I have no interest in putting NOS on a bike I own but I am curious from a technical and novelty perspective on how this goes and how well it works. Keep us posted and take pictures.

Very ballsy. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
So this is what people do to their bikes in Florida? i guess it makes sense, what with no curves in the roads.
Alea iacta est
You have money to blow so enjoy the ride. we like pictures here, movies too!
I remember Toro's first ride video with his charger..... wow!
I don't know much about NOS, so can't help, but I'd be very interested in seeing your results.
maybe even do a dino run with and with out.
I also would like to know if the fuel delivery needs to be changed for the duration of the squirt.
Also, what is the safety precaution in case of too much pressure in the cylinder? Is there one other than watching the head fly into the field?
Please keep us posted on your project.
P.S.
All who think that this is silly, please keep your comments on the side of good humor. The OP has been a good sport so far...

I don't know why people say don't do it, I mean it's not your bike & if someone gets there thrills having a sleeper to burn others off at the lights then fine, that's there thing. I find it a complete waste of time myself & isn't why I own a bike in fact I'm the complete opposite, I will bluff at lights & let racer boy go hell for leather while I pull away slowly, I just wait for some corners & smoke them :-)
I do hope the op took some notice of Veefer800Canuck post because there is no point fitting nitrous to launch from a standing start were you need first & second gear with the limiting still active on the 1200.
My nitrous is not for take off, that happens very well naturally
Nitrous us for the 4th gear drops
I did install twin 12 ounce bottles and must say
At the 40hp her setting
From 80 to 140 happens in what seems as a millisecond
Was going to go with a power commander next to fine tune, which they are out now for the vfr1200
Upon further inspection the pc is not a big deal unless your going to dyno the bike to fine tune the fine tuning
We all have our own thoughs or ideas on everything
Just coming off a 08 bussa I know now I have a better toy
Better in the curves and now much better on the straights
