Dropping the triple on a 4th gen

I've been reading up on a lot of posts on here since i became a member, my main interest is in getting my VFR handling right as its plenty fast enough for me already and also in getting it looking a little better by fitting a third series rear wheel.
One trick for better handling that i've read about is dropping the triple on the forks to allow for a faster turn in. I was thinking about doing this to my bike but i'm not sure if it has already been done. I've measured from the top of the fork to the top triple and i have 48mm approx (done with bendy tape measure) This has been dropped already right? What is the standard measurement?

My second question, i've ordered one of those lust racing raising brackets for the rear of the bike, this will lift the rear end by 25mm, in conjunction with the dropped front won't this handle all wrong or will i be ok?

Standard is  top of triple to top of fork leg  39mm so yes it has already been dropped.

Thought it was 41mm stock, or maybe that's 5th or 6th gen. Either way it is definitely dropped.

nice monkeysfist on the keys, you work on the pond.

Looks like yours has been dropped about 10mm from standard. I wouldn't go much more than that, maybe 5mm more but that would be it. I am no expert, but depending on how tall you are and how far you get the bike over, you may want to jack the rear up.

I've just had the suspension reconditioned and stiffened on mine. Added 4mm washers to the upper rear shock mount, which means about 20mm rise in the rear. My forks are about 5mm raised (triples dropped 5mm). She sits nicely. Next ride will confirm. I may have some tweaking to do.

Raising the rear will restore ground clearance. Dropping the front end takes away ground clearance.

Sorry that this is off topic, but it is time to flush your brake system.

Your brake fluid should not be that color.

Yes, thats next on my list, you should see the clutch fluid, its brown and cloudy!!!

I've raised the rear end by 25mm recently and i quite like the way the bike feels now, more responsive. A bit cold and slimy in the corners here to really try it out though.

I dropped the forks in mine about 30mm recently. So far it rides very nice and smooth and goes into turns with ease. I have a 180mm rear tire and the back shock is sagging as well. There hasn't been any clearance issues for me so far.
