Hi , I'm Wolfgang from Germany and I'm a new member. First of all I'd like to say that I'm sorry about my bad English (well... school's out for a long time...) but I hope my grammar isn't as bad as you might not understand what I want to know / like to say. You guys - YES, I've read many of your VF1000F/R topics for the last weeks and months so I think there are many specialists around here as their names are e.g. Jamie, Thomas, Sebastian, Kelly and Larry (just to name a few; sorry to those I've forgotten) - are doing fantastic work and there are many handy hints and many good informations for me as a VF1000F newbie... time to thank you all!
Afterwards I don't know how I detected the earlier VFRs topics but what I still recall is that I found some pictures of a modified VF1000F with RC51 fork/bottom triple/front brake discs front calipers/front wheel and the guy - Tom - had posted a new topic to request which color he should paint the front fender... man, real CF made by Tyga is the choice and the bike seems a dream to me!
I think that was the moment I've internally decided to rebuild a bike EXACTLY like this one and so I like to ask - don't laugh about that! - if it is 'allowed' to rebuild a VF1000F mutant? :-)
By the way I appreciate handy hints further on so I hope you guys may help me with some details to solve some problems I will encounter [don't know how to express myself, sorry].
The 'mutant copy project' has just started as I've bought an old SC15 (already disassembled), RC51 parts as listed above, LSL 929 top triple (btw. LSL is a german company :-) and superbike bar, SC33 rear wheel + 520 sprocket + brake disks, VF1000R swing arm, caliper hanger and torque arm and - I hope it will work: - a Hornet 600 tachometer sensor.
What I have to buy/order next is the Nissin rear caliper (of a 2000/2001 TZ250, am I right?), a longer (+1/2") rear shock (I ogle with an adjusable Wilbers 641) and - I like the US VF1000F with "HONDA" on the tank! - a decal set (talked to a varnisher today who did a lot of Ferraris, AC Cobras and Lambos the last thirty years... other stuff than my Volkswagen Golf, uh!)
I know that SC15's are having some oiling problems with the camshaft so I like to do the Tony Donisi oil modification like Tom did. So my first question is where I exactly have to drill and hole for the -4AN 90° adapter. Is it the 'flat spot' near the second 'bottom' screw from the right which holds the right engine cover?
Second question is about the clutch release bracket. Tom, as you wrote you got the bracket from winning-run.com.. do you know if they are still offering it? I've talked to a metalworking colleague at the company I'm working for and he told me it would be no problem to make some copies... but first I need an original part so I have to BUY one.
Any hints?
Thanks in advance to y'all
Wolfgang
P.S.: I will post some pictures as possible (just to let you know: I'm rebuilding my (sorry:) ZX11, building a (sorry again:) 'superlightweight' ZX13 (- 80 kg) and a VF750F Freddie Spencer AMA replica at the same time... ;-\)
