symptom: when center stand is retracted (up) it makes contact with the chain and is about beyond horizontal. The bump stop on the exhaust stops but its about .5 inch too high.
Assuming the exhaust is not the issue, what would one check next?
Does the centerstand mount to the engine block or frame? Any chance this area could be damaged?
The stand itself seems to be unbent, no damage to it at all.
Initially I thought it was the exhaust/cat pushed up as it rides close the rear shock mount, but compare to others, seems to be about right....
any ideas I can chase down?
Chain tensioned correctly? Got pics?

upside down, but the rear shock link is close to cat but not touching (on side stand). cat shows no sign of impact

Can't tell by pics but has the triangle plates been reversed to lower the bike? :rolleyes:
If the bike is stock, everything looks correct and a Loose chain has to be the problem UNLESS!!! Is that an after market exhaust slip-on? Either the can is not slipped all the way down on the collector or the tab was welded on too high.

Looks to me like an aftermarket high mount pipe which means the bump stop is most likely in the wrong spot. I had a similar problem when I put my Vance & Hines pipe on (no bump stop). I'd be looking for a taller piece of rubber I could replace the current piece with to gain the necessary clearance.

It also looks like somebody taped a spacer onto the center stand already, just add a larger one.
yes, its a Micron High Mount. I had a Microm low mount previously and the center stand sat in the exact same place.
I have taped a block to the centerstand (pictured). was easier than finding a larger rubber stopper.
If this is a common problem with aftermarket slipons, then I can live with it, just trying to rule out it being a symptom of another issue...

I've had this issue with aftermarket slipons. How is it when you're sitting on the bike?
try sticking or making the rubber stopper a little thicker or add some spacers to the stand (where it hits the stopper)...also remember there is not weight - so once you sit it will//should go up.
