5th gen adjustable RearSets

OK i found myself in possession of the very last set of Harris(UK) 5th gen VFR800 rear sets.
It is a complete set less one item "eccentic toe spigot" which would need to be produced. I also have the Drawing of similar item included.

I could just sell these items, but I was thinking if there was enough interest we could look into the possibility of a small production run to help out all you 5th gen owners vs just one guy. What do you guys think?

Looking at them as if I was to machine them.

Heel guards are a lot of work, but not anything really difficult. Just a lot to them.
The triangles would be easy to do.
Footpegs, not so much. Easy to turn a pair, but they would be smooth. Don't know how I would get that knurling without just putting a load of work into it. But footpegs aren't that big of a deal in the grand scheme of it all.
The mount for the heel guards looks like a pain. Lots of stuff going on, and left and right are different. Not easy on a manual, if possible.
The shifter might not be that bad.

If someone had a small CNC mill open it might not be that bad. It would just be a lot of work on a manual, but probably doable. They look really nice.

They're cramped compared to the stockers or BLS lowering blocks. But still comfortable enough that I've put probably close to 50K on them now. The only way the pegs are going to touch down is if the bike is sliding across the pavement. Compared to the OEM, they're about 1" back and up which works nicely for me.

I wouldn't mind a set if someone clever is going to make some...I wont have my bimmer forever but prefer the more agressive leg angles...

Heel guards and triangles would be super, super easy for me to replicate. Only thing is, I would need the originals in hand to duplicate them. Once I have them programmed, I can modify to change design, add a VFR logo, etc.

The mounts and footpegs are another story. I might be able to make them, but I only just got my lathe. My skills and tooling are a bit limited yet.

Being in your hands can easily be arranged. :smile:

Might be easier to just permanently modify the original mounts.

That's a thought, might be able to weld some bosses on. Got a spare I can play with?

I'm wishing I had taken the time to throw them across the CMM when i had the chance, it would be handy to have that info... :sad:

Whit these I would never feel the pegs toutch down, I belive.
So depending on cost, yes I`m intrested.

I might be able to scan them with a Faro arm and create a model. That's only a maybe though.

I'll have to see what I did with my old one from my wreck. Only the footpeg mount broke off. Hopefully I didn't toss it in the scrap.

Seems like you could just cut off the peg tabs and bolt a plate full of adjustment holes pretty easily.

Will the 6th gen "buns" fit where the two connectors attach this assembly to the 5th gen?  Then you can use any rear sets or just snag some late CBR units....

tentatively in, depending on price.

If I was to have some made I'd go about 1/4" longer on the pegs, my size 12 feet could use them.

I have the tail of my bike way up so your peg scraping experience may be different.

Possible copies or even just the dimensions would be fantastic.  I'd be in for something like this, for sure.

Yeah. Thinking just cut off a chunk of the existing footpeg. Machine in a flat for a bolt. Watercut all the parts. Buy other footpegs.

Here is my 2 cents worth. I found these on fleabay. Looks like they would bolt directly to the mounting plate.

Why not just machine the peg mounts like vortex of CFM does theirs? Replacement pegs would be easy to come by that way.

I prefer folding pegs, like the MFW ones from Germany.  Something like these brackets would be required, but then you could also use the MFW Vario parts as well, which allow further adjustability.  Isn't designing by committee fun?!? :tongue:
