Hey guys I know that some of you have had some issues with your fuel pumps and I have searched the topic pretty well. But I see alot of stuff about 6th gen blue connector issues.. I have a 5th gen and have just replaced the stator and R/R because the bike stumbled and died.. I had the burnt wiring and the whole bit between them. So I ASSumed it was the R/R or the Stator.. SO like I said.. I just replaced both and learned a bit while doing so. So I go to fire her up and she turns over like a champ but will not run, and much to my horror I am now noticing that the fuel pump is not priming (due to lack of noise) the relays in the back right of the bike click and the FI light go out after a second or two. So fearing the worst I jumped the fuel pump to see if it works and it does. The bike fired right up. So my question is what is the MOST likely culprit? There are two connections on the back right of the bike that click when I hit the key or hit the kill switch on and off and I know about the sidestand switch and the bank angle sensor but I am unsure how to jump these relays to see if any of the may be bad.. Some of them are 4 pin and I do not want to smoke anything that is good but I NEED to get this bike running! I miss it so much! Thanks in advance any and all advice is appreciated!

Could be your fuel pump relay or wiring around that area is dodgy.You can test if it's your relay easily by hard-wiring it on. See my video - if it doesn't play right at the correct spot, skip to 48 seconds in and watch how I jumpered the relay connector so the fuel pump comes on and stays on.
Note that the fuel pump relay is triggered by the ECU. You can tell if the ECU is booting up by turning the ignition on and watching the FI light. It must come on for about 2-3 seconds and then turn off. If it does not come on at all, the ECU is not getting power. A common cause of this fault is the engine stop switch being dirty, although I recall the bike won't even crank with the switch off. Since yours is cranking that's probably not the problem.
The wire which you need to be most concerned about is the black/white wire. This wire is the common 12 volt feed for all fuel injection components including the ECU, and also the fuel pump relay (technically it's called the Fuel Cut Relay). When you turn the ignition key, there is a relay on the front left of the bike which activates, and the black/white wire comes out of there and goes all over the bike to various places. Always start with THAT relay (make sure it clicks) and test for 12 volts between the black/white wire and ground. Then from there you can check the ECU is getting power as well as the fuel pump relay.

Whew.... What an interesting couple of weeks it has been. I have been digging into the books and working full time, leaving me with no time at all update myself on current VFRd happenings. I see I have missed many cool Slammer blogs, and some of the regular "what kinda oil/ what helmet is best/ and the best tire" threads as usual... However, now, I could use the wisdom of the list to figure an interesting problem out... Here we go:
I decided to make a quick run approximately 5 miles down the road to Target to get a couple small items that would fir comfortably in the trunk of my smuggler. I pull away from Target, and within 1/2 a mile at the first light, I roll to a stop. I accidentally beep the horn, and my bike DIES. Fast forward to the next day. I failed to even notice the previous night that my fuel pump was not even priming (I didnt spend any time on the bike that previous night though). So, off I go to testing my fuel pump lines...
1. Fuel pump IS NOT receiving power... Whew.. don't have to replace the fuel pump today.
2. All fuses look great (with exception to the second 30 A. main fuse that I cannot find-- ?? not the problem, but just can't find it)
3. Relay time:
A. Engine stop relay tests good (I am strictly applying power to the coil and listening for the activation/click of the switch)
B. Fuel cut Relay test good
4. Crap! The front upper cowl has to come off... Bank angle sensor time.... ok, here lies a problem with regards to the manual.
--Manual says within the three post connector leading to the bank angle sensor (BAS), you have one ground, a positive coming from the ignition switch from the (+) battery via fuses, and the third post leading to the engine stop relay that will power the coil which will in turn power the relay switch, and provide power for the fuel pump. ...
Nope not 5 th gen dont think so.
