Centerstand Hitting Midpipe After Swap

I just mounted my Delkevic silencer yesterday and found that my centerstand now hits my midpipe. I double checked that I had the connections fully seated everywhere and that the position couldn't be altered to correct the alignment. Then I vaguely recalled that someone made a penny tech solution.

My search skill must stink, because I couldn't find crap. I thought someone used some rubber and something else attached to the centerstand instead of the pipe. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Is the pipe fitting all the way onto the collector? I had to trim mine (the collector stub) a bit to get it to line up right.

Yes, I double checked the midpipe was all the way down to the bottom of the collector and it is fully seated.

Is there a 1/2 inch of midpipe to be trimmed?  Keeping in mind that the muffler won't end up too close to the wheel or other things there.

Even it it's flared to fit over the collector stub, you can still cut it and re-flare with a tool that can prolly be borrowed from AutoZone or similar.

I'm thinking about how everything is connected, I believe if I were to trim the mid pipe at all, it would move it down and foward. There is a little to almost no clearance between the muffler and the rear passenger peg. I think I need the length untouched. It may very well be that the bracket that they fabricated is in the wrong spot. 

I know I saw somewhere someone made or bought a rubber stop that attached to the centerstand, but I cannot find it.

Well,  If you simply attach the rubber boot to the center stand, it will burn up on the pipe.

If all else fails, make a relocation bracket for the existing boot.  Basically, a metal sliver that would bolt to the original location of the boot and ...  Well, you know..

If you can't find something else, I'd suggest having a plate welded to the centre stand so it will support it......... how thick the plate, is would be relevant to keeping the stand from touching the pipe, and take into account that the rubber will wear though time, so a little extra thickness would be beneficial.

Before you do anything other than mild mods you should call Delk. They have pretty good customer service.

Rotate the clamp to the bottom. Split a piece of 3/4" heater hose and glue it to the centerstand cross bar with 3M trim adhesive. Align the clamp with the hose covered bar to achieve the centerstand drop desired and ride on!

I had this issue with one pipe I had on at some point...anyway, took about a 1/2" square of aluminum and a hose clamp to hold it on the centerstand where it contacts the rubber stop. Tighten the hose clamp up until it's wrapped tightly, use some snips to cut the extra hose clamp off. Not pretty but cost me about a penny, something like:

You are talking about the clamp by the collector, correct?  I don't think the centerstand comes near that, but I will double check it tomorrow.

Hmm... If I do that, the piece would be sticking out on the side though. And eventually I think it would get moved or rotated after hitting the stop I would bet.

I will go back out tomorrow and look at it with these ideas. Thanks all.

Just get a thin strip of alloy say 10mm wide, 1mm thick, a piece of hose 20mm or 3/4" cut a 15mm piece of the hose, then a suitable length of the alloy to allow you to fold it through the hose & then use a thick cable tie or two thinner ones to attach the hose to the stand where it will hit the pipe. The alloy rests against the pipe, the hose acts as a cushion & the cable ties hold it in place.

Once sorted grind/cut the mount off the pipe for the redundant one ! Alternately do this & weld it on again wher it should be !!!!

Sorry on holiday for another week. But if you imagine a short piece of hose, then cut the alloy strip twice it's length, bend it at both ends to 90 degrees so the piece of hose fits between the bends. Now bend the ends into the hose & fold fully with some pliers.
Cable tie the other side of the hose to the stand put it on loose, then put bike on side stand & adjust the alloy/hose to sit where the stand hits the pipe. Tighten the cable ties, job done.

 By trimming either pipe end it will move the pipe in as well as forward, and down. I trimmed the collector about .5"/13mm since it had more than enough material. My mid-pipe didn't have any extra to spare so I trimmed the collector stub. The stock pipe still fits, and seals. No funky brackets required.
