Anyone Else Put A Stereo On Their Vfr

Decades ago I had CB650 that I shared with my dad and he put a fairing on it with a stereo system which at the time was pretty cool, but the technology we have today didn't exist back then i.e. iPods/iPhones, Bluetooth links to helmet speakers, etc.. Personally I can't stand it when I see cars pull up next to me blasting some obnoxious "music" I have no interest in hearing, so I would not want to do the same to others. I would prefer to use the more personal playback methods than a set of open air speakers. To each, his own, I guess.

I was considering it, but now that I know what kind of music comes out of the speakers I'll pass.

I had to use my fiancées phone to record it on mine. The amp fits perfectly on the right side fairing.

Sorry, another vote for ear buds here. - and this comment comes just minutes after my HD next door neighbor came rolling in after 10pm tonight blasting some bag pipe crap. Nice quiet evening on the patio + straight pipes on the Ultra + BAG PIPES? ugh

I'm a BT helmet speakers user myself.

V4 sound is all I need.   :cool:

+1 on that.  I can listen to music any time - but I can only listen to that V-4 while I'm riding!

My wing had a stereo when it had the fairing.  It was nice when I was off the bike and could listen to music without putting in earphones.  When I was riding, I rigged it so I could play it through headphones.  The wind noise was too much to hear anything when I was riding.

 Hey if loud pipes save lives he's got double coverage!

 The RT has a spot for a stereo in the L fairing. It's currently empty with no plans to fill it.

It's not my thing and certainly not with a fragile electrical system anyway.  I did roadside photography in AR for a couple years.  The only way I knew Gold Wings were about to come around the corner was the loud stereos.

I've done the in helmet thing for a while, I like it for long rides. Mostly NPR podcasts for me haha. Borrowed a goldwing 1800 a while ago. If I had a freeway commute, I would snag one of those things in a heart beat, radio was loud enough to hear clearly at 100mph. Such a nice bike, a little big in the corners though.

If by stereo install you mean plugging in some noise cancelling ear buds to my mp3 player, putting my helmet on, and going...then yes.  The best part is it kills the wind noise, allows me to enjoy my flavor of music and still allows me to enjoy the rumble of the V4 all at the same time.  No fairing removal needed, weight added, or electrical modifications required.  :wink:

Oh, and that stereo setup in your car seems a little over kill.  But just a little.  :goofy:

Interesting mod, and I think the 1st time I've seen speakers set up on a VFR.

I think I might want music during really long, boring stretches of road, like if I were riding across Kansas or something.  Otherwise I never listen to tunes while riding.  If I were to buy a big BMW touring bike that came with a stereo, fine, but otherwise I'll pass.
