Are 92 Vfr Headlight Same As 94-97?

hi. i have vfr 750f 1992. and im looking for headlight. i fund on ebay 94-97 vfr's headlight and im curios are they the same. thnx.

No, the 92 (3rd gen) headlight unit will not fit 94-97 (4th gen) bikes. As the shape/size are different.

I always thought they were the same. It's only the top fairing that makes them look different. Take the red plastic away and there's no difference.

The parts manual seems to support that, with a complete assembly only available for the '90-'93 though, I'm not sure what's different (the whole assy includes the bulbs and rubber covers), because the actual headlight unit carry's the same part number from '90-'97: 33120-MT4-671. 

So the short answer is YES, they are the same.

Whereas the 3rd gen does not

Thus if you fit a 4th gen headlight into a 3rd gen, you will see the "cut" in the glass (left one below)

In some markets (e.g. Italy, France) it was not allowed for a motorcycle to have twin headlights. That's why you sometimes come across a 3rd gen cyclops. AFAIK the 3rd and 4th gen headlight assembly is the same.

JZH, your pictures seem to say otherwise, all I had to go by was the part number from Honda. Now I wonder if there was a change from the 3rd to 4th gen, but that they are still interchangeable. The photo's clearly show the rear part of the light is different, but it seems the front (lens) may be the same.

Has anyone got both generations and enough time on their hands to find out for sure?

In spite of the differences to the rear of the 2 headlight assemblies pictured, I think the newer WILL fit on the '90-'93. It looks as if the aiming mechanism was changed, but nothing that would interfere with actually mounting it and having full functionality. Honda put the same part number on it, so I'd say they made the newer to supersede the older. Bike Bandit also shows the same part number for '90 and '97.

Janissilis, if I were you I would go ahead and buy the one you found. Do yourself a favour and get the adapter rings so you can use the GENUINE H4 bulbs (normal wattage options) instead of the bastardized Honda ONLY H4 (45/45 watt only = not bright enough). Contact this seller http://www.ebay.com/...-/380973483232? . I bought mine from him and he had them shipped to me from Hungary.

If somebody here actually tried this and found it doesn't work, step up.

You will only need an adaptor ring if you buy a US spec headlight.

No such need for EU spec headlights (methink)

Au spec bikes had the strangely tabbed bulbs as well - only $45 each from Mr Honda.

Your 3rd gen pic is of my FP, and that is not the OEM top cowl!  I removed the plastic part that goes between the two lenses to mimic the Italian-spec "single headlight" look Rosso mentioned.  AFAIK, only the Italian-spec RC36-I bikes had an actual, single bulb headlight unit.

Guys, they're not interchangeable.  LOOK at the distance between the mounting lugs and the adjuster knobs...
