Just wondering. The owners manual of my new VFR 800says I should have a key Tag with a code for the HISS system in the event that a new key needs cutting. I don't have a tag supplied with mine. Did anyone get one with their VFR? The dealer says the new type keys don't come with a tag. Cheers. :-)

Yes there should be a "tab" strip of something about 4mm x 20mm. With the key number on it.
It was attached to the key ring on mine.

I thought as much. Pretty bad if you don't have one and the key goes missing. Does that mean you need a new HISS system? Think I better visit the dealer. :-( Cheers for the reply. :-)

As long as you don't loose both keys, you can order a blank key and programme it to the HISS. If you loose both keys you will need to replace the ecu.

Cheers Steve. Think it's best to get the tag though knowing me and keys. :-)

Have you checked the owners folder it may be in there?

Had a look Fink, but can't see it anywhere. Typical!

Just checking: A white barcoded tag attached to one of my keys displays a code composed of one letter followed by three digits. Is this the key code, and if not, what is the format of the code you were supplied?

That sounds like the tag. A friend of mine has just bought an Africa Twin and thats how he described it. I didn't get one at all. The dealer seems pretty good though, so I don't think it will be a problem. Hopefully. :-)
