What's being used for coolant?

Honda Genuine Type 2

It's premixed, comes in gallon jugs. Used to be able to get if from the car dealer for $20. Last time I got some it was a lot more, not sure if it was only that dealer or if it is that expensive everywhere.

Anything that is aluminum safe.

My local dealer sells it for $14.99  -- I have used Honda Blue in bikes for years. It could be total perception, but the system seems to run cleaner with the Genuine Honda stuff. 

Engine Ice. Noticed a 5 - 10 degree improvement and also more rapid drops in temperature once you get moving again from stop and go traffic.

Not sure what the previous owners ran in either of my VFRs, but guess to say it was a Honda product, at least in the '09 I'm pretty sure, as it had too few miles on it when I bought it. After two owners, can't say what was in the '01. I run Engine Ice in both now and both seem to be running normal.

Anything WITHOUT phosphorus or silica or you will be replacing your water pump in a short time.

+1 It has to survive -20F where I live. And it has. No problems in a combined 130,xxx miles across four 5th gens.

Like the Prestone Dex-Cool I've been running for the past 13 years.

I went with Maxima Coolanol 50/50 Premixed Performance Coolant.

50/50 ethylene glycol based antifreeze and deionized water...for all aluminum and magnesium motorcycle and ATV liquid cooled engines.

Yes, exactly.  I use the cheap green stuff at napa, bike runs 175-185.

The discussion of any motor vehicle fluid will net the same type of responses. For that matter, other "non vehicle" fluids like Scotch or beer might be similar as well...

Don't get me started on beer!

I started on beer a long, long time ago... but you are right, it's best not to get started.

Prestone 50/50 BTW...coolant, not beer (Molson Canadian)

Prestone 50/50 in the summer and 60/40 in the winter(for faster warm up and to keep the engine temp closer to normal). As for beer New Holland's Night-Tripper.

I personally run a 60/40 mix of beer and tequila

Kawasaki brand engine coolant - i's what my dealer carries. It green, no silicates, must be good

+1 for beer. As long as it's Good Beer, not that swill Timmy hands out to also-rans at TMac crash awards.  

ICE Coolant - have recently moved to it (about 4 months back). Quite happy. What i have noticed significantly is that if the bike get hot - it cools quite fast than the normal coolant. 

In stop and go traffic - i found it to be 4 to 5 C lower
