Ok Its An 8Th Gen, But What Is Its Name?

We all know its an 8th Gen, as per this sub-forum title :smile:

But what shall we call this bike? For example, here are the "accepted" names for the last few generations:

94-97 - Testarossa

98-01 - Klingon

02-13 - Origami (Vtec)

10- - Veefalo (vfr1200)

14 - ?????

Best names can be put to a vote unless some braniac comes up with something outstanding :smile:

Yeah, never heard the 4th gens called Testarossa but I get the reference. Usually it's just best vfr ever. :-)

No actually I like it best (out of all the VTECs).

I have never heard of the 94-97 referred to as the Testarossa. The VTEC has been described as having 'origami' styling, but again I've never heard someone call it that. The 86-89 and 90-93 don't seem to have any particular pet names.

Really, it's only been the '98-'01 VFR800Fi (Klingon) and VFR1200 (Veefalo) that had particularly distinguishing features that led to their 'names'. Even then, I always thought Veefalo was more of a knock on the bike than a vote in favor.

Mostly the product of people who spend too much time on the internet, methinks.

If I ever get one, it will be called Marvin. Or Melvin.

The white 91er is know as the "White Dame" or Dama Blanca over here in Spain

Somehow, owning my VFR since '99, I've never heard the nickname Klingon. :unsure2:

Klingon: as in bird of prey, smooth flowing curves

Origami: due to its folded up appearance.

Never heard the Klingon thing before. Which is weird because I am a huge Star Trek geek and love my VFR. That would have stuck in my mind I believe.

I will call this a "Looper" just like the movie...... As Honda seems to loops back in time to an older formula and styling that works better for many VFR owners(?)......

Just read a British review of the 2014 (which they call a 6th gen ...). How about naming it after the 2014 VFR800 VTEC Project Leader: Tanaka; or the Assistant Chief Engineer: Hayashi (if that sounds a little too much like Hayabusa, maybe use his first name: Kanji).

we might have to wait until new owners start taking delivery, maybe they can come up with a good name...

I remember sharing a snigger or two on the Big List when the "Klingons" debuted (which, ISTR caused so much offense that VFRD was established in response!) But now I quite like the 5th-gen's looks (convenient, as I bought one). Much less dated-looking than my 3rd-gen.

Really? You think so? I always thought the 3rd gen was almost timeless in it's design. I think it looks great even today.

At the risk of being called a race traitor, I have always slightly preferred the looks of the 4th gen...at least since 1994! Some angles I just don't like on my bikes--the white wheels too New Wave, the front turn signals too prominent, and the frame too "heavy" looking...but it was never enough to get me to trade-in my 3rd-gens for a 4th-gen.
