Two Brothers Header Replication!

Seems like Tyga is possibly interested in replicating the TBR header for the 3rd and 4th gen,

So does anyone have a TBR header you could send to Tyga (when the time comes) so they can take measures???

I think the high left exit header would be the nicest one.

How many of you are interested? This could be a once in a lifetime opportunity!!

Heres the email correspondence between me and Tyga:

Hi!

Been following the tread at the VFRD forum about the group buy for a Tyga

full exhaust for the 5th-7th gen VFR. Think it\'s amazing that you are

willing to produce this exhaust on request of the VFR community.

I\'m wondering if the same could be done for the 3rd and 4th gen VFR\'s? The

4th gen header fits the 3rd gen, and there is many enthusiasts out there

that would love to get hold of a preformance header/full exhaust. Two

brothers made a excellent full exhaust in the nineties, people are crazy

about them if one happens to show up on ebay(wich is not very likely).

Would it be possible that someone sent you their Two brothers header so you

could replicate it?

Cheers

Anders

Hi Anders

Many thanks for your message below and your suggestion. For sure, if the

5th-7th generation project goes to plan then we'll be very interested in

looking at making exhausts for earlier models. We would need a sample so

yes, that would be good if someone could help us source one.

Best regards

Paul

I would be very interested.

#3

That's pretty cool. I currently own both styles of the headers that Two Bros made for the 750's,neither of them have the stock exit location and they are slightly different from each other so there would have to some agreement between all interested of which one to use.

Also, the sound is very different between the two. One is 4-1 and the newer style is 4-2-1. The 4-2-1 makes better power I think but I have the 4-1 on the bike right now because it just has that sound that I couldn't give up.

I might be persuaded to help out if there are enough of us interested.

Thanks, Alhazred! We'll just have to wait and see if people are interested. As "unobtanium" as these pipes are, one would expect that the demand is there. Then we have to discuss the price with Tyga.

Are your pipes low or high mount?

#5

The 4-1 is left side high mount and the 4-2-1 is right side low mount, both headers exit by the left foot peg.

#6

Would love the left high level.

#7

I'm in for 2......

#8

Good, so we are now 5 interested so far,

Haven't got any replies yet from Tyga about how many orders they need or cost estimate, think it was around 600$ + shipping for the 5th gen, that is making a header from scratch, not a replica.

Heres the 5th gen thread: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.php/topic/82473-tyga-vfr800-headers/

Im in for a 3rd gen header.

#10

Ok,good! 4th gen header will fit the 3rd gen.

#12

Got an answer from Tyga about when they could start manufacturing the exhaust.

Hi Anders

Thanks. At this stage no idea on the time frame but it will be months given our current schedule.

Appreciate your enthusiasm.

Paul

#13

Looks like we'll have to wait for the 5-7th gen headers to be produced first

Hi Anders,

Thanks for the reply and the questions. Unfortunately, I don’t have any answers yet. Like I mentioned in the first email, we need to see how the later model sells. We’ll have a much better idea after that.

Best regards

Paul

#14

Thanks for your efforts Stryker,

#15

Thanks! A little surprised that there hasn't been more people interested yet..

Mentioned this thread at VfrWorld and the VFR 750 RC36 facebook group(check it out, pretty active group only for rc36 I/II)

Twobros left high mount is my favorite too, you'll loose the center stand with it, but i can live with that.

Personally i don't like the 2 muffler setup very much.

Tyga makes some really nice things, pure porn. Sadly nothing for the vfr 750.

Shall i put you on the list RC36Rider? It's not an official list, just to get an overview.

When Tyga is ready to discuss the possible production, i will make a binding registration list.

A nicely made left side high mount exhaust for the 4th Gen is definitely on my wish list. :fing02:

The ability to keep the side-stand is a strong plus. Centre-stand, I don't care much.

Something like this would be nice  : http://www.tygaeurope.com/wp-content/uploads/exps-0003left-4093068f.jpg

Now, where did I put that piggy bank again? :unsure2: :sad2:

Why on earth would any exhaust mess with the side stand?

ANYWAY...I've tried this with various exhaust manufacturers. I promise you that everyone interested here will soon back out when they see the cost of production, plus markup, plus shipping. Making exhausts is NOT cheap, no matter where you're based. I contacted about 8 exhaust manufacturers in the UK offering to send them my Sebring left exit, "yeah we can do it" they said, "ok cool" I said, "how much for ten units?" I asked, "oh about £5000" (some where even more). Reckon people are REALLY willing to spend that kinda money on an exhaust for an ageing bike?

Don't want to sound negative, but until prices are put up, I would take all interest VERY lightly.

Oh and I also contacted Motad, they outright said no as they KNOW it'll never sell enough units to justify the cost of tooling up, let alone labour costs and shipping costs.

However, if they can do them cheap enough, count me in :D

#19

They have 21 people committed at 600 usd a pop in the VFR800 Tyga thread. Where do you come up with this idea that everyone will back out? Did you start a thread about reproducing a VFR750 exhaust system and we all backed out at the last minute? I must have missed it.

#20

In my opinion, this looks very positive so far. And as alhazred said, the vfr 800 is going for 600$+shipping.

Hi stryker.

I'd really, really like it to be a twin silencer setup, and EU road legal.

The latter doesn't seem to be the case of the Tyga exhausts for the NC30/35 or the now defunct 2Bros system.

Edited December 4, 2015 by RC36Rider

As you said doesn't seem to be any roadlegal silencers at Tyga, what a about a db-killer?

You can always get them to make your own custom made silencer "we can make custom size silencer tubes"

Ok, that is probaly just the tubes for silencers, sorry!

I tried this, as soon as people heard the price (I'm talking specifically VFR750 owners here) the interest dropped right off. But hopefully it'll work out.

Tell them to forget the silencers, just make sure the outlet is 2" and you have an endless choice of cans to choose from.

This ^^^^^^ is the right answer. Then see if they'll make just the header for 3rd gens (high mount, left side for most, I'd think). Then we can choose whatever muffler we want that is legal for where we live.

Might make it more affordable for us cheapskates normal income people, too.

I'd be interested in a low mount set up for my '95 (I use my center stand) at the $600+/- price point, but not being familiar with Tyga, just a couple of questions. What are the header pipes made out of? Will they be of equivalent quality (e.g., wall thickness) of the OEMs? Have the donor pipes been dyno'ed vs. OEMs to make any performance gains worthwhile? Just askin'.

#26

First of all we have to source a tbr donor pipe, and tyga will make a copy of that. Understandably it isn't possible to choose from different types of setups etc. This will be a header and link pipe only, so everyones free to use whatever silencer they like. If i remeber correctly the tbr exhaust is 2" which opens upp for many different silencers, as this is a pretty common diameter.

Performance wise the tbr header is the best. Google it and you should find some info.

As for quality Tyga is top notch from what i have heard, check out their homepage tyga-performance.com

Performance wise the tbr header is the best.

This is a massive claim. Every bike is marginally different, every bike will more than likely need additional jetting adjustment and rolling road tuning. If anyone tells you there's a simply drop in kit, they're talking out their arse.

[video: https://www.youtube.com/embed/lkRotx2rTZA?feature=oembed] 80bhp here. Have to say that's ridiculously low, mine with dyno kit, RR set up and Sebring left exit made 93rwhp.
#28

Who said anything about not having to jet the bike correctly? Please tell me if there are better exhausts out there...

80hp... don't think its the exhaust fault.

#29

Not saying it's the exhausts fault, not saying anyone mentioned not jetting either. Stop getting your knickers in a twist, it's just advice as I've been down this route before, albeit I came out the other side placing no orders due to people pulling out when they found out the pricing.

There will be plenty of people who tell you that you can simply bung a left exit onto the bike and ride away. You may well be able to, but I can promise you that there'll be flat spots in the low to mid range that really do affect the ride enough to warrant a great deal of disappointment. So it's an additional cost.

Again, people will buy Dynojet kits and assume they need to bang the biggest jets in and don't need rolling road action, in virtually all cases, you need the smallest jets available...and they don't come as part of the kit for the VFR750, so more additional cost.

Left exit's are an inherently expensive choice, the system = £££, jetting (most would be wise to have this done at a specialist) incuding dyno time (as you will NEVER know if it's right without this) = ££££. It's a bike that's 14 years old at it's youngest, 25 at it's oldest, and generally worth little more than £1500 in any part of the world. It takes a pretty big love and thought of keeping the bike forever to want to sink that kinda money into the VFR750. You may see this as being negative but I see it as being realistic. I've been there, I've done it and I simply won't ever sell the bike as it's clear it'd get me a laughably low amount of money back. Most people don't contemplate this in advance, they just see "two brothers" and get all giddy, very few go ahead with it as the costs become very real very quickly.

#30

How much $$$ people are willing to put into their bike is up to each and everyone, i've put more than enough into mine because i love the bike more than the r1 and xr 650 i had, and i'm fine with that, it's a hobby.Using factory pro jets and their recommendations you get pretty close, never used dyno jet. But if you want it perfect, then of course you need dyno runs. I just think it's inspiring with all the people trying to improve these bikes. There has been some excellent builds.?

I'm in for the 5 gen and i don't plan on backing out. I have a ker ker on my 82 cb750k and 4 pod style air filters and I bought this kit from dynojet and played around with the jets and needles, I found the original needles I went with mid position and a shim worked best I think I went up to 74 and 112 on the primary and secondary jets which is what worked on that bike where I didn't get much mid range hesitation the provided needles had steps which made the throttle twitchy that's why I used the original. Regardless of what you do you'll have to play with it. I have a gpr can and bmc air filter a pc III and i plan on polishing and porting my heads and installing r6 velocity stacks when I get my Tyga pipes and then having my bike dyno'd. so don't make assumptions on what people plan on doing to their bikes because I spent $1700 on having my forks and new shocks built for my 30 year old cb

I'd be interested in a Tyga 4th Gen system, but would like to know what the expected power increase would be when using their replicated TBR system.

Not being fussy, but it seems Honda did a good job with the design of their OEM system, all be it a bit agricultural.

A "performance product" such as this would surely require prototype testing on a stock RC36 in order to evaluate the new systems performance, fitment and general effect on AFR.

Tyga's reputation could be at stake if it wasn't up to scratch.

Griff.

#35

Depending on final cost I would possibly be interested in a high mount left exit. Been looking for one for quite awhile.

Well, Griff, I would say for the 4th gen you would get the highly coveted high mount, left exit pipe to which you attach whatever can makes your hair stand up at all rev ranges (for me that's Supertrapp) and a power/torque increase of ZERO. The 4th gen's don't have collector boxes, so no power left on the table - at least none you would notice. Just my humble and realistic opinion.

Cheers,

Glenn

#37

Wouldn't it just be easier to cut a 4th gen system and weld on a link pipe that pops out under the swing arm? MUST have been done by someone at some point.

I don't know for sure, but the distinct impression I have always had from TBR is that, for the VFR at least, their headers were never intended to be "performance enhancing". About ten years ago they pretty much stopped manufacturing complete systems for Hondas, and said this in their 2006 catalog:

There have been drastic improvements in today’s modern sportbikes over the past 10 years. It used to be easy to get 8, 10, or even 15 extra HP form an aftermarket exhaust system. Those times have passed, however, and the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) now use titanium headers with special collectors, crossover tubes, power valves, etc. It is not reasonable to believe that an aftermarket company can improve upon what the factory has spent countless dollars and hours designing around the ENGINE that they also developed.

Some improvement is possible, but I don't think TBR spent a lot of time on a dyno developing their VFR exhaust headers to their maximum potential.

I'm pretty sure I remember topics on the 'big list' fifteen years (!) ago where 4th and 5th Gen owners were reporting dyno-proven gains of 10hp up top with TBR full systems (and probably a K&N and desnorkel), but losing midrange torque. Which you'd expect from a 4-1 system.

Staintune topics of the era suggested that a Staintune slip-on was worth zero gain on a 4th Gen and 6-7hp on a 5th Gen.

I'm not surprised at the reasons they pulled out of full systems, though - Staintune are gone for exactly the same reason. I was in the closed Staintune factory in October and the walls are literally lined with half-finished systems and mufflers...

I've read a few articles on modifying RC36's over the years, both on line and in various publications.

Based on results contained within these write ups I tend to agree with what Phantom is saying in that the original Two Brothers system did actually produce a reasonable power increase over stock - whilst most other systems did not. Hence my comment that the OEM system was designed well by Honda. I wish I could find the article(s).

There where also limited 4-1 (racing) systems produced for the Mk1 RC36 models ! Mainly marketed in the U.S.

I'm not too sure on performance test results for these, but jetting mods would certainly be required to suit and I'm pretty sure there would be a noticeable sacrifice of mid range to gain top end power. I'll try and find some pics for those who might be interested.

Absolutely this. My Sebring has definitely forsaken some low end pick up in favour of some pretty barmy action above 7krpm

#42

The TBR left-exit exhaust system was 4-1, while my FP's current TBR right-exit system is 4-2-1. I suspect TBR did no dyno testing at all on those designs--just tubing welded together in such a way to fit the bike and put the end can where they wanted it. Looks nice, though!

Ciao,

#43

I will say it again - if you put this on a bike that had a collector box, you will need to re-jet and certainly see a performance gain. If you don't re-jet but only readjust I seriously doubt you will get any performance gain (no, you won't), but may still be rideable enough UNTIL you get the re-jetting done.

If you put this on a bike that currently has no factory collector box there will be no performance gain whether or not you re-jet. Re-jetting might even hurt performance in some way (torque curve/power band?). On this bike you'll get great looks and sound (by choosing your ideal can) and that's it.

For me, I would LOVE to have the left exit high mount. That said, the performance I have, even with the collector box exhaust and Supertrapp can, is MORE than I use, need or want. To each their own. Just don't think you'll get something out of this that isn't there.

Like I said, I would LOVE to have the left exit high mount!

Now I'm not an engineer with a dyno, but I have done some car engine building and performance tuning including jetting dual Webers on my race car in a previous life. I have maintained/repaired engines and mechanicals from lawn mowers to commercial jets. I am a realist due to my experience.

Yeah, nothing special is going to happen other than exposing the rear wheel fully, which in my opinion is done just as effectively with a high level. Honda got it just about perfect with this bike.

I'm not bothered if it's left or right exit. However, what I would really like is a quality system that does away with that heavy sub manifold / flange which connects the OEM downpipes to the rear cylinders, so the replacement headers would bolt directly to the rear cylinder head as per RC30. I'd pay the extra for this, although I know it's unlikely Tyga would deviate from the basic OEM design.

Sebring system.

Or, if you're willing to risk it....Black Widow exhausts, I'm pretty sure they're Sandy Bike Spares though, and we all know how shit they were. So shit that they had to fold that company and roll it into another with a spiders name.

#48

Yeah, I did buy a used SBS system to evaluate quite some time ago.

It looked fine externally, and was much lighter than OEM, but the internal port matching was awful (as we know) and I'm quite sure it would have lost power over the OEM system - not what I'm looking for, but probably OK as a budget stainless replacement.

It would be interesting to see a dyno comparison of OEM vs Stock SBS vs internally optimised SBS with dyno set up.

I wish I had a dyno.

The TBR design does not use the manifold, so neither would a TBR replica. I would assume.

That's correct, the TBR connects directly to the head. I will make a "commit to buy" list when Tyga is ready to start this project. But first they have to get the 5/6th gen exhaust ready. So will porbably take a while.

I have the Kirker left low exit 4-2-1 on my 3rd gen. This exhaust connects to the stock down pipes from the front and rear cylinders. I could care less whether the dang thing makes any more power, I just wanted to show off the beautiful 8 spoke. I would be interested in a left high mount, sans silencer. If the price is under 1K US, I'm in. I've thrown so much dough ray me at this old scoot over the years, what is a few more bucks. It's not like I'm ever going to sell the damn thing.

Why not spend about a tenth of that and just get a high level link pipe welded in place with a 2" outlet? The world's your oyster for can choice then.

#53

I got lucky and my 4th gen came with the TBR left exit low mount. From what I was told I'm the third owner. The original owner put the TBR system on and was unhappy with how it ran. He supposedly called TBR and they gave him specs for rejetting/tuning the carbs for it to run right. This leads me to believe that they did do testing. The bike runs very smooth and doesn't run too lean or rich as far as I can tell. I will be putting it on a dyno to see hp and AFR this spring.

#54

There's a big difference between re-jetting the carbs to compensate for a freer flowing exhaust and changing the design of the header system to maximise the power of the engine, either at the peak, or perhaps in the mid-range. Any time you change the exhaust or intake you may need to re-jet. In fact, I would say that if an exhaust mod does not require re-jetting, you've probably not added any performance! The point is that tuning takes time (much less time if you have a dyno, which all exhaust manufacturers certainly have). Re-jetting to get the most performance out of a given exhaust system is a lot easier than experimenting with the header's configuration and trying different designs in order to maximise the performance potential of the engine--and this requires a huge amount of time.

On a bike like a VFR, very few of which have ever ventured onto a track, much less raced or (lol) battled for a championship, and which requires a relatively complicated header design and manufacturing process, you can understand why TBR (and everyone else, apart from HRC!) would have just figured if it fit, it would be good enough. Sure, they may have had a reputation to defend, but VFR guys were never going to make or break their businesses...

Sorry but I have no plans to open up the carbs. There are a fair number of notes in the shop manual that came with the bike. I will see if anything was written down.

FWIW, I have dug out the instructions from the Factory Pro jet kit for my 3rd-gen. Not especially useful, but jet kit manufacturers like them and DynoJet probably have more comprehensive tuning suggestions available if you ask them.

Ciao,

#59

Any update on this or is it another no-go project?

#60

No updates until Tyga is finished with the 5th/6th gen header.

#61

You can count me in for one, maybe two as I have two 4th gens in the garage.

#62

Ok, Snowcrash. Will update here when the time comes. Right now we'll just have to wait for Tyga to finish their 5/6th gen project.

#63

Paul at Tyga is a great guy - they're busy usually with many products to manufacture, etc. but are absolute enthusiasts (They've supplied me a lot of parts for an NSR250 MC28 project and are still in the midst of doing some one-off work for it too - not many companies go over & above in this way like they have been known to do).

So I hope someone will supply them a 3rd / 4th gen left exit TBR kit so they can make up an exhaust kit for a high level RC30 styled exhaust silencer to be mountable. I daresay Tyga would return the loaned parts and perhaps supply a free kit to the supplier (Don't quote me on this, that's just my guess!) as a thank you, so I hope someone stands up and offers to help.

As for jetting, it will have to be right. Perhaps someone will have his bike dyno'd and set up properly and share what jet sizes were used. That way all can benefit. Perhaps a jetting specialist in the U.S. (Where the market for such exhausts is probably largest) would be interested in developing such a kit. Someone should ask around...

Without a collector box the exhaust sound really becomes much nicer but it would be best to jet accordingly as back pressure will naturally be different as a result of the change of design.

#64

My offer still stands to help make this happen if Tyga goes for it.

#65

Yes, Paul seems like a guy that is really helpful and passionate about bikes. Good idea about the jetting. Factory pro has some pretty good guidelines and jetting settings for different setups. And Alhazred that sounds excellent!

#66

Alhazred - sounds good!

From what Paul mentioned I think Tyga intends to make these.... there's also a few other things planned for VFR's so they're turning their attention to these bikes (Single nut cover for rear wheel is one...), which can only be a good thing, but it'll take time.

#67

Yes, it will take some time, but Paul seems very optimistic. Have you heard anything about the 5/6th gen header project from Paul?

Only that they're working on it... which doesn't indicate how far they've progressed, but shows commitment. :)

#69

I don't care about performance and will purchase a high lefty if produced. I'll certainly get stainless 5th gen headers too, they're the only thing that don't look new still.

#70

Message from Paul via e-mail today, which I feel sure he won't mind me sharing...

Hi Miguel

"Thanks for your feedback on the exhaust. The plan is to make the exhaust in the same pipe diameter as stock but to the TBR spec or thereabouts. We really need a sample but Russell bless him, just sent us two stock headers which we could have sourced here and saved us 300 dollars in shipping and import duty, oh well! We will proceed with this when we have the TBR or similar. Although we are convinced there is a demand and the VFR is one of those models to stay, we are really stretched for time at the moment and would need to source a bike and do a lot of dyno runs etc to develop our own system.

Love the swing arm. Would look good on a VFR750 with some Sebimoto RCV1000 bodywork made to fit. J

Paul"

So, Alhazred can we get your TBR left exit header set to Paul ? Let's make it happen (I would if I could but I can't = 'cos I don't have one

We haven't decided which header to have replicated or even have an official list of who is committed yet. I thought Stryker was heading this one up,I think we need to stick with one person dealing with Tyga to get this project done.

The cost of shipping is going to be a big problem as I cannot afford $300(confirmed with post office)to ship the header to Thailand.

#73

Yes, Alhazred lets do this. How much would the shipping cost for your TBR header be from where you live to Tyga in Thailand? I'm willing to help you out with the shipping cost.

300$ wow! What do you guys think, if we make a commit to buy list, Then everybody on that list would pay their share of the shipping cost of alhazred's header?

#74

Will of course have to talk to tyga about price, shippimg and other details, before a commit to buy list can be done.

And The Stig, it is totally okay with me that you've contacted Tyga.?

#75

Hi Alhazred. I speak to Paul every now & then about other stuff and he mentioned the header again, so I shared what he'd said that's all.
Being in Japan, I don't really have any intention of dealing with Tyga with regard to this particular project so forgive me if you thought I was stepping on your feet here.

I don't mind sharing the cost of getting a left hand exit header to Tyga if that helps and think that's a good idea.

#76

I'm wondering if Paul is talking about the vfr 800 header project? He said Russel sent him the original header. Which Rush2112 did, so is Rush2112 and Russel the same person? Because i haven't heard anything about anybody sending their 4th gen header to Tyga.

Nothing to forgive my friend, just a misunderstanding.

#78

The Stig, could you double check with paul which gen header he was talking about? He's been mixing up the 4th gen with the 5/6th gen before.☺

#79

I would send mine over, but they are right exit......

I am one and the same. This separate 4th gen project has introduced confusion for Matt & Paul with multiple VFR contacts... because of these separate streams of conversation they thought I was sending them a TBR header that someone from this thread had mentioned to them.

I currently have an agreement with Tyga for a $6000 order for starting the VFR800 performance headers. Can we please hold off on the multiple contacts until the VFR800 headers are in production?

It was posted on page two that they wouldn't be looking into this until the 800 project was finished so I don't see any reason anyone should be contacting them about it.

Well, it appears at least two other people are communicating with Paul and creating confusion. Matt, who does all the engineering & fabrication work at Tyga, emailed me wondering where the TBR header was...

I never mentioned to Matt or Paul about providing a TBR header. I don't have one. I have had detailed discussions with Matt and he asked me to send the two OEM headers, one with a cat and one without so he would have both 5th and 6th gen headers and have more than one reference point.

Now it appears someone led Paul to believe that TBR headers were being shipped to him and he feels like he wasted $300+ and I look like an ass.

In June I will have been working on this exhaust header project for three years... whoever is communicating with Tyga please stop until the VFR800 headers are in production.

That's what i agreed with paul, first they will finish the 5/6th gen then we can start to discuss the 3/4th gen.

But i got a little confused after the post from the stig.

#84

Hopefully everyone can agree from here out to not send anymore emails concerning the 4th gen exhaust to Tyga to avoid any further confusion,it's only hurting our chances to actually make this happen.

#85

Agreed!

#86

Any updates on the VFR800 exhaust system production Guys ?

#87

I have a set of low right hand exit headers and a Delk GP silencer that I'm contemplating getting rid of.

Its a genuine TBR system stamped 93, that has been ceramic coated.

If anyone is interested in them PM me.

Thanks.

#89

Any movement on this? I have a TBR system currently off my '92 that I would be willing to lend

#90

I'm also curious about this. I have a TBR low right exit exhaust system that the right rear header to block is cracked really bad and has a sporty repair on. Can't find anyone who could fix or replicate the pipe. If these guys could do it or even just get a new system I'm in. I've been pondering the Black widow system for a while now...

Is there a particular reason why Tyga need to be the guys for this work? There's a sh*t tonne of exhaust fabricators out there that could make light work of this. All they'd need is the TBR/a left exit set of headers. It's not like there's a shortage of owners willing to lend them out for the project. I bet Delkevic could be talked into this, albeit they have their end cans/link pipes made up in China en masse.

Seems a bit mental waiting on Tyga.

Right now I'm working with a private fabricator who is rebuilding a section of my two Bros header and also making a collector and high mount mid pipe. He's also working with another to replicate a set of 5th gen headers. They are out there, just gotta find the right people!!

#93

Exactly, I'm sure with a bit of cash laid down and some coercing, they could be talked into producing something to order. The demand is certainly there, I just don't think Tyga are the be all and end all (although I do respect their attention to detail and skillset!)

#94

I agree. Seems like people are leaning the if Tyga can't do it nobody can way. Which isn't true, but I understand since this is the first time there's been hope for aftermarket performance headers for the VFR in years. If this guy can do custom header system for the 5th gen, then a 4th two Bros replica would be easy. Just getting the funding and people to follow through is what's key. I'll post photos of this guy's work on my Two Brothers header when it's complete!

#95

Anyone interested in 5 gen or 6 gen headers prototyped based on TBR units and refined with dyno testing can check out the 'Help fund the VFR header' thread on vfrw. User RVFR on that site has started a gofundme.com account to help fund a prototype and testing. Some of us have kicked in between $10 and $50 on gofundme to further the cause. RVFR is geographically close to a very talented custom exhaust fabricator and they are working together on a VFR header system [the thread has photo examples of the fabricator's work]. It seems to be a well thought out project and is making progress. Sadly, 4 gen headers have not yet been discussed.

Yup, same guy! His work is fantastic. I met up with RFVR and the fabricator as well and he knows his stuff! He now has a 4th Two Bros and a 5th gen factory system on his desk. Although my system is there for repair only, but it seemed that replicating it would be within his ability. I would love to contribute to all of your causes in getting a replica made, but no such business has been discussed with the man. This is something that would have to be discussed through RVFR. But for those with 5th gens and of interest, definitely contribute!! For if all goes well, maybe he can be tricked into doing the same for the 4th gen... 😉

Are 3rd and 4th gen 2Bros systems the same? I know the Sebring on mine won't fit a 4th gen as it will hit the shock linkage etc, so will only bolt onto a 3rd gen

You refer -I think- to the 3rd gen left exit system; that indeed doesnot fit a 4th gen (as I found out myself...)

There are Sebrings out there that do fit (the OEM collector box) :goofy:

We're talking specifically about left exit systems

#100

And TBH I don't think you missed out on this not having this system, Dutchy. It was a pig to fit and an even bigger pig to tune the carbs to it. Would I do it again? Doubt it.

I have a 4th gen TBR on my 3rd gen, but it's the Right-side exit version.  The only issue is with the centre stand, which must be removed or spaced downwards 30-40mm in order to fit.

Ciao,

#102

I've been in contact with an exhaust supplier in Preston, Lancashire. Said he's up for producing loads of these if the orders are right.

Why this obsession with Tyga, they're not the be all!

I'll chat with him, see what figures I can come up with and take it from there. It'll be a replica of my Sebring system so will, initially, only be for a 90-93 bike. My friend up there bought my 94-97 though so I can take his bike there and the fabricator should be able to adjust accordingly.

The sebring is a 4-2-1 system.

#103

I agree,  though TYGA is known for it's exhaust, they're not the only player in town for sure.

#104

Knowing Tyga manufacture in Thailand, clearly the cost of a system from them would be lower than something made in the UK. The welding on their systems is also very good. Anyways, with all the uncertainty and lack of progress I'm not sure they're as keen now.
They asked me about getting a left exit exhaust for a VFR750 when we were in Japan together last year (don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger), but I don't have one & it seems from this thread there's not much commitment from the community, in reality?

They're a busy company with about 20 staff and don't have time to mess about, so you might need to tap that UK manufacturer or alternative after all. Will probably be expensive though.

Good luck with the crowd funding project, RVFR.

#105

No idea why my profile posts as RC36, I created that eons ago and don't use it anymore. Seems to be some confusion over my facebook account it seems.

Miguel, given the utter arseache it is to remove/install the sebring system, I'm going to bow out of this one. I'll still speak to the chap in Preston about fabrication and see what he says. If I stumble across a 2bros/sebring system again, I'll snap it up and donate it to the cause.

Way Better huh. ;)

#112

I know nothing about time lines or dollar signs, but there are 2 sets of 4th gen TBR headers, left and right exit, along with a 4th gen mule, on a boat to the far east.....we shall see.....

#113

Looks very nice! Good work. I however want a 4-2-1-2 system.
