How old are VFR owners?

Seriously considering buying a VFR800 this weekend, I'd be getting back into motorcycling after a number of years hiatus.

Just curious - how old are the owners of the VFR?

Welcome Aboard! I'll be 51 this April and no plans on quitting anytime soon. Grab that VFR while you can.

Bought my VFR at 22... I have to be one of the youngest ones here. 

Maybe I should get a Tuono instead, is that a young mans bike too?

I am 63 and a VFR rider. But I also ride a Ducati 748 and a BMW R1200RS and a Tuono, so not sure what the results mean . . .

Wish I bought one when I was younger.

Not necessarily. I have 2 of those, first gen and second gen.

Just became a VFR owner. I'm 44. Also have a Fireblade project and a track car in the garage. Age smage!

31 next month. Bought my first at 27. Had 3rd gen, 6th gen, and 4th gen (which I still own and am never getting rid of).

50 for me.  Got my vfr 2 years ago, but can still outlast the majority of youngsters. 

Turning 40 in a month so I voted very quickly :)

Got my license a year and a half ago and bought the viffer last fall after having an ER6 for about a year.

I'm 55 but I feel much older.

I'm 55 and have owned a VFR of some sort since I was 35.  I have owned Gen 4's and 5's.  Best motorcycles for the money, ever.

I know no one has been losing any sleep over my follow up to checking out the VFR this past week. But since I started this poll, I thought I'd provide an update. It took a week longer than anticipated but I was fortunate to pick up a new red 2014 Interceptor base from a Honda dealer in Wisconsin. $6,485, had them add a center stand, $7.300 out the door. (I'll pay tax separately in IL). At that price I couldn't pass it up. Check out Cedar Creek Motorsports - if you're in the market, no affiliation, etc etc. Good people to deal with, Ryan was the salesman I dealt with. I was happy I drove the two hours to take advantage of the price.

Just a beautiful bike, Honda did an incredible job designing this thing. Much to learn about the VFR from the many knowledgeable people here. I'll continue to do a lot of reading. Thanks for all the responses.

I paid $8,000 for my '98 in early 99 with under 2,000 miles.  Forget if that included tax.

Yup the center stand was $60, they did the installation as part of the dealer prep & doc fees.

Luca. I think I want one of those beauties. I miss a my 98 VFR so much a I think Ima gonna die. Age no matter so long as you can ride circles around these young guns.

Just picked up a 2014 DLX on Friday, a similar sweet deal..rode 100 miles home in the pouring rain and still couldn't have been happier.

Many years ago, we had the 'big list'. which was called that because there were lots of small lists across the US and across the world... I started the one in Australia, OzVFR. Anyway, I digress - in 1999 or so I posted to the big list a topic called "Name? Age? Location? Occupation?" - or something like that. It became a monster and eventually the biggest topic on the list, and gave us the best demographic info we'd had.

So, that aside - I'm 48 in June.

Just thought I'd say that I didn't fit into any of the age options as an 18 year old, which I thought was kinda funny. Judging by the age of the other owners, it seems I made a good decision on what bike to buy. The young often make rash decisions without the experience or wisdom neccessary to choose the right option and end up regretting it not long into the future. The more experienced, meanwhile, draw upon their wisdom and make choices that they need not regret. I find this to be doubly true in regards to vehicles (the amount of flashy, ruined Civics out there are testament to this).

Yeah I noticed the same thing and it's on the opposite end too since it tops out at 79 - I guess when you hit 80 you're required to hand over your VFR keys?  I fell into the 40 - 49 category but I hope I can still ride when I'm 80!  Good for you in trying to learn from your elders!

Well H, I was only 30 when the VFR first came out . 

At 19 years old I am a young Padawan, learning about the ancient(early gen) VFR order. You may think that I am falling on to the dark side if you've seen my custom build, but I assure you that I still see the light. 

Pushing 49 pretty hard, and amused to find myself on a bike again. Very much enjoying my '00 VFR, though--now that I've replaced the stator (22,311 miles, but age can be a factor, too), R/R and charging path, and installed a BrakeAway...
...Next projects: Voltmeter install, new tires, PCIII, cosmetic fixes.

Purchased a 2004 VFR800 2 years ago with only 2424 miles, (true story) best part only gave $3100 bucks for it. Just clicked of 26876 miles yesterday while frying another Stator! :( As for my age....i've been riding sport bikes for 35 years (Body) as for the (mind) well, I have a 2015 Triumph Daytona 675R for trackday excursions, maybe do 6,7,8 of the a year. Funny thing is if I search through a web browser I can find info on this site, but if I log in, well lets just say I end up writing a totally useless intro.

Sweet.  I had picked up a '97 with under 6K on it back on 2007.  Not mint but close enough for government work.  Picked it up for something like $3000, put another few hundred into it and got a lot of enjoyment out of it before it was senselessly slaughtered by the pilot of a U-Haul in 2014.  It had an "interesting" back story.  But it worked out well enough.

I am 55 and 5/6ths as Terry put it, and just returned to the VFR fold last month after about a four year hiatus exploring my naked and ADV sides. My first one was a 6th gen 2004 model. Now I have a 2007.

You sound more mature than 99% of 18 year olds.  Your logic and mindset will serve you well in life. Congrats on your choice.

......of course, my eyes aren't so good, especially without my glasses when everything is just a big blur.

Got my first 2014 VFR800 last year in white.  Liked it so much that I got a second 2014 in red this year.

My 40th birthday present last year.

Looking at the poll so far, 70% of VFR owners are 40 years old or older.  Interesting.

I'm 38, but I've had VFR's since age 24.

Looking at the data (as limited as it is) would lead me to believe that VFR owners are previous owners of all-out-sport-bikes, that wanted something less hard edged, without getting away from that style of bike completely.

Is that generally the case with VFR owners? (it's not for me BTW)

I'm younger, never had an RR (or a single R). I want a razor-sharp toy, but I mostly skipped on it this time because I wanted something I could ride daily without exacerbating my back problems. I also don't like having something you see all the time, and you very rarely see VFRs or hear V4s around here. In my life, I've seen two other VFRs in this state, a couple of ST1300s, a Tuono 1100, a VMax, and a Ducati ST4. The last two not even on the road, but on dealer floors.

I;m 32 ive had my vfr for 3 years now .i used to have a vtr 1000 and the vfr seemed like the natural progession 

Insurance on the new Fireblade was too much and the VFR looked sooo good.
